Limbaugh: ‘Nationalism And Populism Have Overtaken Conservatism’ In GOP [VIDEO]
Daily Caller ^ | 1-20-2016 | CHRISTIAN DATOC

Posted on 01/20/2016 11:40:34 AM PST by Citizen Zed

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh said Wednesday that Trump's popularity is evidence that "nationalism and populism have overtaken conservatism" in the Republican Party

"The Trump triumph - the Trump coalition - is exposing the fact that it isn't conservative orthodoxy, or conservatism or any of the hard work of the conservative elite," explained Limbaugh, "that is causing people to be conservative."

LIMBAUGH: It's something really simple... They're fed up with the modern day Democratic Party... The Republican Party establishment does not understand this. They do not know who their conservative voters are. They've over-estimated their conservatism... They're not liberals. They're not Democrat. Many of them do not want to be thought of as conservatives for a host of reasons. So somebody who comes along and is able to convey that he or she understands why they're angry and furthermore, is going to do everything to fix it, is going to own them. What's happening here is that 'nationalism' - dirty word, ooh people hate it - and 'populism' - even dirtier word. Nationalism and populism have overtaken conservatism in terms of appeal.

He's calling Trump a Democrat without calling Trump a Democrat.

I heard him live on the radio when he said this. The way I heard it was more Rush speaking in glowing terms of Trump.

One does not align themselves with Trump and remain a conservative...

But those who align with the GOPe do...That's fine with me...I'm happier not being a conservative...

Conservatives have turned out to be New World Order Globalists...So when you say Trump and those that support him are no longer conservative, we know exactly what you are talking about...And that's why we support Trump...

But what KIND of justices Spock? What KIND?!?!?

Better ones than Hillary or Bernie. Probably better ones then Cruz as well. Cruz would probably have the Republicans filibustering his choices since he isn’t able to convince them of anything.

I call those three things American. We need to fight to keep this constitutional republic. Or get it back. Most people are bowing on their prayer rugs right now to Political Correctness. The media for twenty years has made PC the number one value in our country. And that will kill us. We are the frogs and the water around the edge of the pot is bubbling.

I’m not listening to Rush these days but the quoted comments I’m hearing make me think he is doing a dance straddling a fence, not knowing where his audience is going. I sure hope he has a protective athletic cup on - fences can be painful.

To a degree Trump is a globalist, the difference is, he wants America to win on the global stage.

There is GEORGE WILL conservatism, and there is TED CRUZ conservatism. Who is the true conservative? Where is the coherent ideology?

Our entire civilization is under siege and we’re debating how many Reagans fit upon a match head... We need to get real.
*******************************************************************************
Yes, NOOB, we desperately need you to come here and explain to us who are the true conservatives. We’ve been devoid of your wisdom for so long. I’m betting that you are a DONALD TRUMP (BLESSED IS HIS HOLY NAME AND BLESSED ARE HIS ETHANOL MANDATES AND OTHER GOVERNMENT SUBSIDIES) supporter.

I agree. Rush has been losing audience share the last few years and losing some major markets where they won’t play his show. I think Trump will be the best President in modern day history. Yes even better then Reagan (possibly) which is not really a hit on Reagan but a positive on Trump. I see many similarities on both of them.

So, what’s the alternative? Realistically?

I would say it's pretty apparent that anyone, Dem or Repub would be an acceptable alternative...

Republican or Democrat no longer matter...The two political groups are Pro America and New World Order Globalism...Trump and Palin represent one side while everyone represents the other...

George Will says he's 'conservative'. Paul Ryan says he's 'conservative'. Bill Kristol says he's 'conservative'.

Jeb Bush says he's 'conservative'.

I’m afraid you and Ben Franklin are right. We’re too late for conservatism.

Yeah, Perot did run as Independent but knowing now how the elites have chosen our candidates for us makes me look back with awe how the pro-open borders have controlled things to such an extent that no candidate they didn't want would come close to an RNC Primary win!

On account of the fact that Perot was raging against the open borders and knew how those guys played ball, just like Buchanan did, the liberal RNC elites saw to it, neither of them could come close, even if it got to the convention.

Trump is neither a Democrat nor a conservative.

Based on his rhetoric, he is simply a Nationalist.

Excellent and apt. I wonder how many get the reference without looking it up?

But what KIND of justices Spock? What KIND?!?!?

If you really cared, you'd already know...Trump says he will appoint justices in the vein of Thomas, NOT Roberts as Cruz would do...Works for me...

“Nationalism And Populism Have Overtaken Conservatism” In GOP

possibly. But what good has so-called “conservatism” done us? Nearly every tea party candidate/so-called “conservative” Senator and House Rep immediately sold us out withing weeks of taking office.
