Nice try, Microsoft.
My linux box shuts off in 4 seconds. I doubt M$ X comes anywhere close to that.
Every web page you go to now has a brazillion scripts running on it, how can it not be slow?
Place mark to see what people are saying about 10.
Why are they giving it away free?
At, say, $100 a copy, times 200 million, that’s more money than I can count, that they are giving away.
Plus, they get the ability to spy on me visually and audibly, as well as record everything I do.
Nice...
Boot yes, shut down, click and walk away.
Apple sold 300M devices in 2105.
I have a laptop and when I need to go in a hurry it would be nice. However, I can put it into sleep mode and I am on my way.
Make that 2015
Windows 10 boots in around six seconds with a SSD drive and UEFI secure boot
Yes it also boots fairly fast and starts programs faster and has no trouble getting its updates done while using it, but the 4 sec shutdown still impresses me compared to 'Doze.
I have a dual boot system I just built last week, 7 on one SSDI and 10 on another.
I was impressed with how fast it boots, but while 7 was stable when I overclocked, 10 wasn’t.
You can change what effect closing the lid has on the machine.
Its under control panel/hardware and sound/change what the power buttons...set it to do nothing, then you can shut down, close the lid and go.
As an aside, I've had it told to me that sleep mode is not a good way to go, it can corrupt files. I can't attest to the veracity of that, but I've heard many say it.
Are you prescient? Anyway, best speed improvement is to go with SSD drives instead of mechanical. Get the fastest you can, use mechanical drives for external use. No more defragging to worry about with SSD.
Not trying to be argumentative, but once you power down, just get up and leave.
Why do you have to wait until it completes its command?
I know we all have our ways, is it just a habit or is there a technical reason?
Oh good gravy...earlier windows versions now keep nagging you to install it.
Because computers have to finish their business before they have their power cut off or they complain on the next start.
You have made a projection of Apple Sales 90 years in the future?
I wish FR had an edit funtion.
I don’t have pure SSD’s but i do have a hybrid mechanical drive for (C).
Check to see if i need to defrag and it always shows zero percent for C drive. I’m on Windows 10
