Vanity: I want to ask Trump, Cruz supporters one question..
FR | December 24, 2015 | JSDude1

I want to first wish everyone a Merry Christmas (God Bless Us EVERYONE!).

But really my question in this thread is: If you are a Cruz or Trump supporter (this is especially aimed at those who CONSTANTLY post irrelevant opinions as facts), and other snarky things that tear down EITHER Trump or Cruz..

What will YOU do if the other candidate that you support wins the nomination?? Will you vote for and enthusiastically support "the other guy" or will you take your ball and go home? Would you dare saddle us with a Hillary President? Just curious..

I'll answer that I do not Tear down Trump inspite of supporting Cruz, and would support him with 100% of my effort. Nor do I like to see fellow 'conservative' Freepers tear down each other on this board. MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I will vote for Cruz in the primary. I will probably not vote for Trump should he become the Republican nominee. One election cycle after another I am told that I must vote for a liberal candidate or an even more liberal candidate will win.

A lesser evil is still an evil.

Cruz is a constitutional conservative. We know, for the most part, what we are getting. Trump, on the other hand, has always been a big government liberal. Will Trump be better than Hillary? Maybe. Maybe worse. A “conservative” Pesident pushing a far left agenda is a nightmare scenario. With Trump it is a real possibility. Listening to his positions before he decided to become a Republican I would say “possibility” is more likely “probability.”

When you think how bad the Obama economy is right now just remember that Trump touted every one of Obama’s disastrous policies. His judgement has been proven wrong.

For him, to be Trump's running mate would be a great enhancement, and catapult him to the presidency in 8 years when he will still be young and even more desirable as a presidential candidate.

The last sitting vice-president who got catapulted to eight years in the presidency was Thomas Jefferson. Eight years as Trump's veep would more likely kill whatever presidential ambitions Cruz had. Which is why I don't think he would ever do it.

Trump is not seeking to be in politics-- it's the last thing in the world he wants to do.

Bull. Trump has had his eye on the White House for years.

Well; if he (she?) is a deceived (or deceiving) Mormon; I'll pass.

Otherwise I'll vote for Trump or Cruz or anyone else.

2) most of the births are paid for by current Republican voters

Ted CRUZ is my first choice.
He knows not only the Constitution but the arguments and state of mind of the men who wrote it.
He knows the Original Intent behind every word of that document.

Having successfully argued before the Supreme Court he knows how that gang works better than a politician can.
He can read a judges decisions and know how that judge thinks and figure out how that judge will rule in the future.
This is vitally important because the next President will replace two or possibly three SCOTUS Judges.
We need more Alito’s and Thomas’s and no damned more Kennedys, Ginsbergs and definitely not another “Wise Latina”.
Get the SCOTUS appointments wrong and it won’t matter what else is accomplished.

Donald Trump is a successful businessman in one of the toughest markets in the US, New York City.

Yes he had a wealthy family that got him started, good for him.
Yes he attended a pretty prestigious business school, good for him.
That would mean zilch if he didn’t have the brains, ambition and drive to succeed.
Plenty of rich kids end up broke because they don’t have the drive to succeed that made their families rich.

Being a very successful businessman, Trump knows how to read financials and knows how to get the most bang for the buck. He knows where the fat is and how to cut it.

He thinks, and acts, BIG.
Trump has had many deals that most others wouldn’t have attempted.
He has failed on some. Once he almost lost everything.
But he bounced back, higher and with a bigger profile than before. It’s what winners do.

He has used political contacts, first his father’s then contacts he himself had nurtured along. He knows how to work a politician.

He has been married three times. I heard an interview where he took responsibility for his first marriage breaking up.
The second marriage was to an opportunistic gold digger. Rarely does a marriage to a mistress work out.
The third marriage seems to be doing fine.

He seems to have kept a working relationship with first wife Ivana because their children have turned out pretty good. Not a whiff of scandal between them. Pretty impressive.

The only thing that gives me pause is SCOTUS. Like I said, get that wrong and everything else amounts to nothing.

If they can manage it a Trump/Cruz ticket might be the best thing for the immediate future.

So its Cruz or Trump or both.
No others need apply.

And, BTW, you're right, Trump doesn't do second place.

Maybe not.

Hang around for the coming "I told you so" moment(s) that are SURE to be in our future.

Prevoius VPs seemed to operate in the shadows; reined in by the powers that be.

Can you imagine what his mind and mouth in a position of power/2 could do?

"Hey Cruz!

Ya still healthy today?"

Have you ever heard of Phyllis Schafly the mother of conservatism? She is endorsing Trump as the only person who can save America. I think you can take her word for it even if you don’t want to take mine.

You are not looking at the realities of this.

There is very little chance of Trump taking the nomination. The danger is that he may weaken Cruz sufficiently that the party leadership will be able take control of the convention.

Is that even possible?

Theoretically, the top of the ticket should pick a guy who will support his positions.

Nevertheless, it's a Constitutional position. While these days they run as a ticket, the electoral college elects them separately. When you vote for a slate of electors in your state you vote for guys pledged to both, but they are separate votes...I think.

In the Constitution, the VP reports to the people of the United States, not to the President.

I don’t see why it’s necessary to tear down Cruz to support Trump or vice versa. I definitely prefer Trump, but I’d be OK with Cruz winning.

Yes, but I rely on my own opinion. Trump has shown poor judgement on every major political debate until this year. He prides himself on picking good people. He said Hillary would make a terrific Secretary of State. Bad choice. Again. He has made a habit of supporting those things that have imperiled this nation.

I must respectfully disagree that Trump is conservative.

IF Mr. Trump is nominated, I hope he will choose Mr. Cruz
as his VP. But, I will crawl over rough gravel to get to
the polls to vote for anyone but a dam* RINO. I’ve voted
for Republican elites several times; but Hitler-y Clinton
NEEDS herself a good ASS kickin - and a RINO ain’t gonna
cut it. - If the Republican elites pull a fast one to get
Jebbie or other RINO installed, it’s gonna be real hard to
swallow this time. He will lose with or without my vote.
