It’s called intimidation .. and that’s how Putin operates.
While Putin may have assumed America would not interfere (because Obama appears cowardly to him), he forgot to separate Obama from the NATO Alliance agreement with our military.
I believe Putin mis-calculated our military’s lack of will; assuming we would not honor our commitment because of our CIC’s fear of Putin. No one should ever mis-calculate that.
That’s exactly what Islam wants, to take as many infidels with them as many as they can.
Demonic activity produces ; death, chaos, pain, upheaval.
The commander in chief of ISIS wants to take out as many innocents, Jews, Christians as they can.

More likely a proxy war between sunni and shia islam. That’s between Saudi Arabia and the Wahhabi, and the Ayatollah’s of Iran.
It’s not hard to believe that Obama would try to provoke a war with Russia for his buddy Erdogan and the soon to be world wide Caliphate. Since Turkey is a NATO “ally”, if Russia attacks Turkey, Obama would have his excuse to side with Erdogan. With our current state of military weakness and a possible China pile on it could be very bad news for the U.S.

NATO sure looked like a fabulous idea, but only if it were completely independent and superior to the utterly corrupt UN.

That video was interesting, but shows a lack of ability to stop that S400. All that threesome can do is target the launchers after one has launched, and try to trick them into expending all their ammo on drones.
The HARM slightly exceed Mach 2 and itself is a target for this system.
And an S400 in the air uses a passive fire and forget seeker. There is no radar signal it follows or emits.
Don’t minimize this nasty thing.
Basically the only way to interdict it is to trick them into expending them wastefully on drones, or to declare war and go after the launchers in a full war package.
That vid shows how the USAF could indeed reach and hit a high value target protected by S400s. And I believe we could. But there would be bad losses.
That is the reason the Israelis attacked them last year as the S300s were being unloaded. Once they are operational, they are a long range handful.
Essentially they can establish a no fly zone over half of Turkey with one.
As I and others have stated it was an ambush. No way could Turkey have acted that fast with only 17 seconds of airspace violations.

Good post. And also, notice how NATO was designed to stop an attack on Europe, but now NATO is the attacking force and is spreading the policy of the EU?

I don’t think id risk our precious F-22s in a nasty SAM environment. IF we decided to have an actual war with Russia there, I think our F-15s could easily own the sky in a day or two ala Bakka Valley.
But I don’t put anything past Obama. That 300 looks almost as bad, but the 400 added range and speed and better ability against space threats.

If its Assad and Russia says only planes with their permission can come in, do we honor that?
Or if we declare one as Rubio and others talk about, does anyone believe Russia will pack up and go home? Furthermore the way we do no fly means all SAM sites, airbases, etc get attacked.

NO. I believe we’re operating upon our NATO Agreement.
I don’t believe a Commander has to ask permission to exercise that agreement ..??

Putin has been violating Western airspace for some time now, years in fact. Invaded Georgia, invaded Ukraine and he simply got caught with his SU-24 in the cookie jar.
He got bitch slapped and he just needs to take it like the schoolyard bully does. They get hit back one time and they are in shock.
Let’s see what the tough guy does. I predict he will talk a big game, increase pressure in the area, but he does nothing in regard to Turkey as he is not stupid. The last thing he wants is a shooting war with NATO and for his inferior weapons to be shown to the world.
Well .. wasn’t the mess in Libya an Obama/Hillary mess ..??
