Supercars are built to represent the pinnacle of automotive technology. Brutally fast and impossibly expensive, they are objects of desire and the stuff dreams are made of. But thereâs more to a supercar than just speed and good looks. Thereâs a certain hierarchy in the supercar world â a select group of car builders that seem to control the collective memory when it comes to performance. Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and McLarens build supercars, unquestionably. Acura, Aston Martin, and Jaguar? Maybe not. Despite looks, speed, and handling to compete with the best, some plenty capable dream machines just get left behind.
And thatâs a real shame. For every legendary Porsche 959 or Bugatti Veyron there are several woefully underrated cars that deserve to be part of the âbest everâ conversation.

I always like surfing internet web pages that let you read them without purposefully obscuring crap getting in the way.
Stupid list. Only a few of those cars are “forgotten”. The NSX is a legend, as is the Pantera. Maybe my mom forgot them, but I doubt she knows what a Pacer is either.
Funny you mention that, I just stated reading “Cannonball!” by Brock Yates who won the first Cannonball in 1971 with Dan Gurney.
I was watching the new Jay Leno show “jay Lenos Garage”. He was shown a concept car that did not get produced. It was a Pontiac Firebird, 69 or 70, I think. Anyway the front end looked like a Shelby Cobra. Under the hood was a 12 cylinder Ferrari engine. It was a sharp car.
Of course, I could be full of Thanksgiving stuffing too ...
#6 Arguably the best all around exotic ever produced.
#8 Love the look even though they have an unfinished kit car kind of appearance.
#9 Tons of fun. Very unforgiving oversteer. Ask me how I know.
Just looked on Hemmings classifieds. Wow, the Mangustas have gotten so expensive. Many over $300k.
Was the Pantera oversteer worse than the old 911?
I always liked TVRs, but never drove one.
I almost bought a used 350i when I got out of college. Test drove it and loved it, but as I was a newly commissioned LT in the army and was going to be doing a lot of cross-county driving, prudence dictated something with a new car warranty, so I went with a Mitsubishi Eclipse. I loved Top Gear’s review of the TVR Sagaris:

Night and day.
I’ve always found the 911s to be fantastic handling cars. Even the 930s. They’re just really well balanced.
Like the NSX, the Panteras are mid engine, and granted much more engineering went into the NSX, but the balance on the Pantera is problematic. 351 Windsors or Clevelands, I don’t know, maybe just too much power, if there can be such a thing.
Oddly the old Countach 5000S seemed to conduct itself more along the lines of the NSX despite the V12.
Several of those may be “exotics”, but hardly “supercars”.
Kinda like the guys who put small block Chevy V8 motors in 914's.
The list excludes one of the most dominating super cars that ever won lemans.Thats the GT-40,FORD BABY!
My current fast car is a 2013 Audi S6. Car and Driver clocked 0-60 at 3.7 seconds. The V8 Twin Turbo generates torque at really low RPMs so it will really take off. I am looking at sports cars again. Looking at Mercedes AMG GTS, Lamborghini Huracan, and when they come out the Ferrari 488 GTB and McLaren 570S. I have had a Porsche Turbo or I might consider one of those too.
The engine was 351 Cleveland HO.
Wow. I'll stick with my Hyundai:
That right there is a chick magnet!
