HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) ~ An Amish man turned heads as he whizzed by fellow runners at a recent marathon ~ not because of his speed but because of his unusual racing attire.
Twenty-two-year-old Leroy Stolzfus finished the 26.2-mile Harrisburg Marathon on Nov. 8 in just over three hours and five minutes, all while wearing his community's traditional clothing, Pennlive.com reported

Damn.... I was expecting a picture of a Black thug in baggy pants! Not a real Amish Dude!
His family couldn’t afford a horse to pull the carriage.
He didn’t wear his MP3 player, either!
Where’s his hat?
That is pretty spectacular! The article didn’t say, but I’m sure hoping he snuck some spandex shorts under his pants; otherwise...talk about chafing!!
Kudos!
We have an Amish market near us and the bakery and the stand that sells things like potato salad are both named Stoltzfus. The cheese guy is a Sotlzfus too. I wonder if this guy is related to any of them.
3:05 isn’t a bad time!
You mean to say, they’re not all related?
I’m under the impression there’s a close familial tie-in with many Amish......tons of folk named Yoder, Gingerich, and surprisingly Stolfus is high on the common name list.
Ask. They will probably be please.
...pleased...
This is one of my favorite ads that involve the amish.

Stop in and get some good food and ask them. They’d be happy to see you and let you know.
He probably didn’t need to do much training either, because they lead such physical lives.
Oy Vay! :)
I’m in York Cty (PA), west of Lancaster Cty, and Stoltzfus/ Stoltzfoos is as common as Miller and Smith, maybe more so.
Stolzfus is a very common Amish name. Like Smith or Jones. Probably distant cousin.
He may have been on Rumspringa when he ran the race. That is a period where young Amish temporarily leave the group before actually becoming full blown Amish. They get drunk, hook up (as kids call it nowadays,) and do all kinds of other worldly things while deciding to remain in the church, or leave everything, joining the world and becoming “English.’
On that idiotic Amish Mafia show, Levi’s last name is Stolzfus.
