Making your vehicle combat ready (Vanity/Questions/Conversation)

I just wanted to start up this conversation.
We know that this will happen here, and we cannot rely on police to defend us.
We all have personal vehicles.
I'd like to get FReepers talking about ideas regarding vehicular storage of defensive firearms.
Trunk racks, dashboard mounted holsters, etc.

I have to run and do a bunch of errands today, and will check back when done.

I'm wondering how hard it would be to build something like this:

THere are tons of options. You should at least have a bug out bag filled with medical and other support needs, and then a lock box of sort for your weapon and mags.

Armor. None of that means crap if you dont have armor to stop rounds entering your very thin door metal or windows. You are targets sitting in your vehicle.

This is always a very underplayed aspect of survivability.

Lexan, pleixglas, extra stel panels over doors, even old phone books duct taped strategically if necessary.

I’ve read on some forums about people having AR-500 plates installed in their doors.

Looks like Sam & Dean in Supernatural a bit. Their arsenal is better hidden, false bottom.

I’m still considering all options. I just bought a used ‘99 GMC Suburban, and that beast is HUGH!
There are lots of places to add goodies to.

To me, elaborate setups tie you to them. Breakdowns, hijacks, gas/fuel are all factors. Locks? Why? Would you leave it parked away from you expecting somebody isn’t gonna try to take it? Steal the SUV?

To me. Three/four weapons to carry and keep with you. A beast revolver, a reliable semi that takes mucho capacity mags (a Glock 19?), a good closeup pump shotgun, and a longer range high caliber rifle.... Machete, big knife, and backpack with mags/ammo extra.

That’s nice looking, but there should be a way to access some of it from the drivers seat, or move to Idaho where it is legal to have it all bouncing around in the truck with ammo rolling out the doors everytime you get in and out of your truck.

I just had a Viper system installed in my truck. Security won’t be a problem -unless someone kills me and takes my key.
But, I’m always armed.

Yeah, that’s a drawback.
If it opened from both the rear and interior, it’d be better.
Just recline the driver’s seat, roll to the back and grab the weapons needed.

I don’t even know what a Viper system is.

I’ve frequently thought about something like that. I’d like to a hidden room/closet in the house.

A rifle in the trunk with a CCW handgun to help you get to the rifle. Keep in mind that in many states it is illegal to have a loaded rifle in a vehicle. So a magazine fed rifle with lots of extra mags. I think an AK with a cloth grocery bag full of magazines. Fast and easy to put in a mag and chamber a round.

Here’s a YouTube video review of a Viper system. Remote start and all:

“or move to Idaho where it is legal to have it all bouncing around in the truck with ammo rolling out the doors everytime you get in and out of your truck.”

Is that true about Idaho? If so, then I may consider moving there!
