Free Republic "Badware" Attack Site Designation Revisited
Google/Stop Badware ^ | 10/28/15 | Yollopoliuhqui

Posted on 10/28/2015 2:19:19 PM PDT by Yollopoliuhqui

After getting another attack site warning subsequent to telling Firefox to allow Free Republic, I went to the "Submit Badware" page and attempted to post the below wake up call. The site refused to let me post, saying my Captcha spam filter entry was incorrect a dozen times after I typed it in correctly a dozen times. This attack on Free Republic may be an illegitimate or Google rogue operation and should be looked into.

===== There is NO malware at this site. Take it off your badware list. Your miscategorizing of this conservative news site can be construed as political suppression and will result in an investigation by the same demographic that is suing the IRS for similar types of suppression.

I noticed if you click on the title of thread and NOT the replies you don’t get the attack message.

All you Chrome and Firefox users note, this isn’t happening on Internet Exploder. FWIW.”

I posted yesterday how Chrome and Firefox - not to mention AOL, Facebook and almost every engine runs on Linux except Microsoft which runs on its own servers.

Someone told me that was utter nonsense and I should not post it. Maybe someone from Google, who knows.

I think it depends on the site you are linking to for the photos. If those sites are on the google redlist you will get that warning if your browser uses the google list.

Your link takes me to the blackist screen. Was that your intention?

I’m still getting the warning on Google Chrome. I went to Firefox and don’t have the problem.

Regarding Google’s malware database and malware “attack site” warnings on FR [Thread II]
October 28, 2015 | Jim Robinson
Posted on October 28, 2015 1:53:00 PM EDT by Jim Robinson

Basically, google’s full of crap. Apparently, they have two issues with FR. One is that a user (a long-time user not a hacker) posted a link to an image that (unknown to him) resides on a site google has registered in their database as a malware site. We’ve pulled the post and notified google. Have no idea when they’ll stop flagging us.

The other is that we have links to aim.org. NSS! Aim (Accuracy in Media) is a well known conservative site. Have no idea how many, but I’m sure we’ve had hundreds or even thousands of links posted to aim.org. We’re not going to pull them.

Why google is apparently randomly flagging unrelated threads on FR I have no idea. Your guess is good as mine.

But it’s not just google Chrome. Any browser that relies on google’s database is doing this.

If you want to stop these erroneous and obnoxious warning messages immediately, you can set a browser option to ignore such warnings. Your virus protection software will catch any real viruses.

Thank you all very much for notifying me. I’ve received dozens and dozens of these already. Sorry, cannot answer each one individually.

I’ve had no malware warnings.

I had one this morning, but I just hit 'CNTRL-FU' and ignored it. :)

I’m getting the messages on Linux desktop running Firefox.

Maybe it’s Ghostery which is keeping you out of the weeds.

:D

I'm still working on the Linux setup (it's only a month or so since I decided to go this way into the future).

I was running NoScript under Windoze and think I will try adding it to the current setup.
