CENTER LINE, Mich. - A man tried to kill a spider at a gas station using a lighter causing a dangerous fire.
Using a lighter to kill the bug, he started a blaze that quickly engulfed the gas pump.

Jumping spiders are cute.
More then four or less then two and humans become wary and, occasionally, down right nuts.
I love spiders. We have webs outside on most of our windows.
We let them spend the winter in our garage. There are plenty
of webs in the garage, too.
There are tiny little jumping spiders on the outside of our
windows, and they have their cute little webs too.
Our bedroom windows have rather large spiders that hatch three
or more egg sacs at least twice a year. I like watching them.
We have no flies in our house.
Yup, they are.
:)
I would dearly love to come and get your snake!
I *need* more black snakes here.
Not gonna move the spider and its cave.
It’s welcome to live there.
I hope it’s okay.
Still haven’t seen it since the rain but the web is still wet so maybe it’ll come back out, soon.
I hope.
I’d really like to know what kind it is and I cannot find anything on Google that looks like it.
They are really awesome things.
I have some kind of huge, totally black, “velvety” wolf spider variant here and they are absolutely indomitable!
I’d swear, they make 8 little fists when you try to nudge them out of harm’s way.
LOL
I love you.
:)
I don’t mind spiders too much, except for the Black Widows around our house...I’ll give every other spider a pass, but not the Widows.
It’s bad luck to kill a spider.
My cat hunts them and eats them. Relishes them like some they're some kind of mini land lobster.
Very bad.
Feeling’s mutual, my dear friend.
Especially when using open flame around a gas pump. :D
We had a lot of Black Widows in California, but they don’t come around here for some reason.
We did have a 3” (counting the legs) wolf spider in our computer room. I escorted him or her
out the door. Pretty spider, though.

Speaking of wrecked bathroom visits, did you see my Comment #29? Other story: I was in the basement of my rowhouse in a midatlantic city, when a 4 ft black rat snake came slithering down the stairs and went in under them. I never saw it again, and I have never seen a rat in the house either.
“I never saw it again, and I have never seen a rat in the house either.”
And there we have the simple truth.
God knows what He’s doing.
:)
Lol... I like the black snake... Rodent control.. However, the intimidating way he leaves his skin... Inside my garage... Hanging in all its glory, is just creepy. I know he just laughs every time he outgrows another one. Then, there is the thought.. He might be a she and there may be a nest of them in the foundation pillar.
I think that’s worse.
Maybe your spider isn’t on the Google list because it would be racist to post his photo. Might be one of those pesky colonial spiders of the majority. If so, check the college courses for privileged spider. He might also be a spider of a colonizing religion.
You should form a society to protect him, Google doesn’t have him, so maybe he is endangered. We are talking grant money here.
