Life on Mars? NASA Finds Flowing Water on Barren Planet
Arutz Sheva ^ | 28/9/15

Dark streaks on Mars's surface may indicate liquid water on the barren planet, the National Aeronautics and Space Association (NASA) revealed Monday.

“We now know Mars was once a planet very much like Earth with warm salty seas and fresh water lakes,” Jim Green, NASA's planetary science director, stated. “But something has happened to Mars, it lost its water.”

But recent photos from NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter show long, dark streaks - some as long as 100m - which scientists believe could be a live source of flowing water - and, just maybe, could prove the existence of life (or microbes) on the barren planet.

Researchers still are mystified at the water's source, or why - and how - the water is still flowing.

"Something is hydrating these salts, and it appears to be these streaks that come and go with the seasons," Lujendra Ojha, a researcher from Georgia Tech involved with the Mars project, stated to ABC News. The streaks only appear when Mars's surface reaches above -23C ( F)

“Maybe Mars, like California, was overrun by a deadly species of environmentalists who made it unlivable”.

YES! Just see the old SciFi movie “5 Million Years to Earth” and you will see them in action.

And then see the new version of “War of the Worlds”. THEY”REEEE BACK!

Unless you’ve got a ore carrier the size of the one in “Alien”, you aren’t going to make any money on a Mars mining operation.

And how are you going to transfer it down to Earth? Not in the ore carrier, you aren’t.

Also, remember, it takes about 6 months to reach Mars and 6 months back. You’ll lose a whole year on your investment just in travel time.

And Blackhole insurance is out of this world!

Now.
Now it takes 6 months.
Now it would not be profitable.
Now there are transportation issues.

Sewards Folly turned out to be a pretty good deal for us.

We need to stop looking backwards and being afraid to take a risk.

One difference: Sewards Folly was ON THE LAND and not 42 million miles away in space.

Mining and transportation of ores was not a major problem and only took a few weeks at most to processing mills and/or assay offices.

The ores didn’t have to go through reentry in hugh metal capsules or ships.

Only if the ore ship could reach the ground would it be financially feasible to mine Mars, but what would be the valuable ores up there that we don’t have down here?

We don’t need iron ores, nickel, etc. from Mars as we have nice supplies out in New Mexico, Arizona and Minnesota.

... or perhaps there’s no ghod? What’s more likely: a benevolent creator that only made itself known around 6000 years ago (despite existing since the beginning of time), and then only to a small subset of the population.

A creator which has no problem slaughtering countless children, only because they are of the same nationality of those who are oppressing a favoured one?

A creator which murders every creature on the planet, save for two of every species. That’s two of every species on every continent and every country? (Ignoring the fact that either Noah had to have an ark that could instantly teleport itself to every corner of the globe, or that a blessed pair of each species was immediately teleported to the ark, and then back to where it came from)?

Or maybe, just maybe, we don’t yet have a complete scientific understanding of how life comes to be, but through logic, science and empiricism we may eventually solve that universal conundrum, and all of the mythologies throughout history are just that: bunk myth.

BTW it’s spelled “comet”, not “commit”. Yeeesh.

That is the point, we do not know what is up there but we should find out.

Lots of things that were once impossible quickly have become possible. If we found something valuable up there you can believe that the advances in space tech would happen fast and furiously. Need drives innovation sometimes.

NASA’s budget is something like .5% of the budget. Let’s give them 2 times as much money and not make 3 fighter jets. Heck we have pissed away 400 Billion on a jet that cannot keep pace with the jet it is supposed to replace. I am only talking 36 Billion.

This is not unreasonable ...

You spelled God incorrectly! If you want to show no respect it is god. Or the magic sky god.

No one understands the mind of God. The truth is that atheists are the most believing of people as they put the most faith into the unknowable and non provable.

Sure. And the speed that square-rigged three-masted, wide-beamed ships made from England to Virginia were prohibitive, too. Plus the fact that there was no gold in the new colony, but there were Indian wars and disease’ as well as a shortage of eligible females. I think one of the three great Elizabethan poets satirized new world ventures as a “risky scheme”. But hey. There might or might not be bloodsucking, three-legged aliens on mars. But there are no libtards there.
