Let’s qualify. Are they setting the conditions as it was in Poland, where aiding a Jew in any way or manner would result in that person and their whole family being killed?

What a weird question. Probably, during the Holocaust, a maximum of 3% of non-Jews would have hid Jews. And this is entirely dependent upon which country we’re be talking about.

Lets be honest, One would have to seriously consider whether giving refuge to a family of strangers at the risk of ones own family would be rational.

I wonder how many of today's police would actively assist in turning in Jews to the Nazis. Going by the fact that human nature is the same now as it was 70 years ago, and you have the same types of people joining the police forces here as joined in France before WWII, we only have to look at the French police to see what would happen. As you can guess, the French police assisted the new government in every way they could - after all they were government employees, and since they were only following orders and wanted to go home to their families at night (did I forget anything?) they rounded up the Jews just as they would any criminals. The percentage of WWII era Germans who would not hide a Jew from the Nazis was a hell of a lot higher than 31%...
Given the nanny-state attitudes of so many Americans today, I’m pleasantly surprised so many people said they WOULD risk their lives to defy the government.
69% isn’t bad.
This is the same one-third who agreed to be disarmed rather than fight.
