Jeb Bush says his brother "kept us safe." He's wrong.

Defending his brother's record as president at CNN's Republican presidential debate, Jeb Bush had a simple answer: "He kept us safe."

It's an answer Jeb has given before and that conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer has cited as George W. Bush's main legacy.

But it's not true.

For one thing: The vast majority of people killed on American soil by terrorists throughout the entirety of American history were killed during George W. Bush's administration. It's not even close. And this was followed up by the deaths of an even larger number of Americans during Bush's invasion of Iraq.

It would be a bit of a stretch to say that the thousands of innocent Americans killed on 9/11 were Bush's fault, but it's certainly not to his credit that it happened during his administration, and it's mind-boggling that the Bush family thinks it deserves special credit for its success in keeping the country safe from terrorism when no other administration has presiding over an attack nearly that devastating.

It was the first sight that popped up when I googled “Bush didn’t keep us safe”. 9112 happened on George Bush’s watch. It may not have been his fault but Jeb doesn’t get to say his brother kept us safe.

“Jimmy Carter was the one who was responsible for it all but promoting radical Islam. I truly believe his hatred of Israel led to all this.”

That man seethes with hatred.

You are correct. Jimmy Carter destabilized the Middle East (I’m sure some idiot at this point will say “Iran is in Persia”, as though airplanes and the internet don’t exista) by abandoning the Shaw.

The entire world situation with radical Islam can be laid at Jimmy Carters feet.

Total BS. I’m ex canadian and Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld were my heroes before coming to America.

Funny how these Bush haters start getting a hard on the same way Obamatards start worshipping obama on their altars.

I think Trump already did. if you watched the debate you’d know. “Abraham Lincoln couldn’t have gotten elected”

In an Orwellian sense, War Is Good because it keeps the sheeple in an emergency, “survival” mode and therefore more malleable by the State. (I should have qualified the quote)

Why are you posting drivel from a lying leftist?

That's what the author is, has been, and likely always will be. He has nothing to say other than the normal leftist agitprop. F him and all like him. They're traitors.

After the initial surprise attack, more people have been killed by terrorists on our soil under Obama.

It isn’t hatred. It’s reality. 3,000 Americans were murdered in the most devastating terrorist attack in world history during his tenure. George bush did not keep us safe.

I greatly prefer the Bush doctrine of taking the fight to the enemy rather than inviting them to live with us.

“and then there’s the whole invasion of Iraq which basically created the circumstances that have lead to the Iranian nuclear deal. Trump was right on target”.

I missed the debate. Did Trump say it was a mistake to remove Saddam Hussein? If so, he is right.

Bush sure gave a conflicting message, at once going after terrorism while neglecting to recognize the ideology that drove the terroristS. IT’S THE ISLAM, STUPID!
