George Washington University will no longer require that students submit their ACT or SAT scores for most freshman admissions.
Dean of Admissions Karen Stroud Felton said in a statement Monday that university administrators were concerned that below-average test scores were leading some otherwise strong students to not apply. [ ]
School officials say testing will still be required for home-schooled applicants, students from high schools that provide only narrative evaluation of students, college athletes and those applying for a seven-year program that leads to a combined bachelors/medical degree.

If I start laughing I won’t be able to stop.
IOW.....we’re losing money because publik ejumikayshun isn’t teaching anything and we have to drop standards. Follow the $$$$$$.
And will they also join the latest movement, to have more than the two sexes listed on applications, if the person doesn’t identify as either male or female???
Is this a comment on the tests or the students taking the tests? Just another example of lowering the bar. After all, we wouldn't want our future voters to know anything, would we?
So we’ll graduate even stupider Marxist lunatics than usual.
Admissions will be based on skin color, naturally.
Good luck with all that.
Pretty soon their entire student body will consist of Bloods and Crips.
Well, thanks for making it easy for our studio company. Time to pass a memo of schools not to accept applications from due to extremely low standards. “Dear Sur, I am applying for a job in your company. LOL.”

Hmmmmm....obviously unmanipulated high school GPAs? Racial check offs, political party, sexual identity status? Golf score? Jail time? LEFT or right handed?
Pray tell, what are the overarching selection criteria now? Anything as crass as money?
I’m conflicted here.
On the one hand, seeing the College Board lose its iron (and corrupt) grip on testing is a good thing.
On the other hand, as a part-time college professor, I’ve seen what’s coming out of high schools these days; and it ain’t necessarily good. Eliminating admissions tests only hides the problem.
Why would someone even go to such a school if they have any kind of intelligence.
How would potential employers look at GWU grads when they try to apply for jobs?
They really have not thought this through.
Shouldn’t George Washington University change its name? George Washington owned slaves.
In New Orleans a number of years ago, the school board deleted the name of George Washington school. They renamed it after some obscure African king. No word on whether this renamed school helped the self esteem or the achievement of the almost all black student body at that school.
“Otherwise Strong” being “black” here.
Did said African king own slaves?
How many “potential employers” are going to be out there when this fiasco reaches its climax?
LOL, might as well toss the resume in the trash bin with the University of Phoenix grads.
(Ok, I know I’ll hear from some UofP grad that has done well, but in general, most corporations throw them right in the trash)
Good question. Did that African king have a politically correct worldview???? Or did he just have the right skin color to be deemed worthy of honor???
Must be interfering with their social “justice”.
