But rasslin’ is real!
>>One individual, who calls himself Crrow ...used images from his own telescope in his back garden to take images of Jupiter, which is 400 million miles from Earth, and compared them to New Horizons images it took of the much smaller Pluto from nine million miles way, early in its mission.
He said that as his images of Jupiter are clearer than those of Pluto, it proves the Pluto images are fabricated.<<
Al you need is some chicken wire, a few bricks and a backyard BBQ — voila! Conspiracy theory!
Well, duh.
Until NASA figures out a way to transport Pluto into a low Earth orbit, pixels will have to do.
I often wonder what motivates these people.
I’ll bet they know almost nothing about any of the sciences and as a result things like this really are incredible.
I can barely believe it myself. 3 billion miles and, except for those couple of blackout days, nothing went wrong.
I see what you did there.
I think these ideas are just plain Goofy.
The whole thing is Goofy, is right.
I’m glad to see Pluto. Would this be a Goofy Pluto Napl? Time to call in Giorgio?
I remember XKCD’s comic response to accusations that the Moon mission was fake - because if it was, they’d have justified their budget by faking it a few more times, plus Mars.
Had that in 2012. Mission failed as expected.
Honestly.... I think I read somewhere the probe was operating at like 8 watts of power, and sent the pictures 3 billion miles. You know... I guess I’m wearing tin foil.... but something about that seems far fetched.
Pluto in LEO? That would be terrifying and catastrophic.
Something related, a representation of a mirrorized disco ball the size of the moon in low earth orbit. I'd feel weird every time something that big came over the horizon, even if it was perfectly stable.

Skip to 2:04 if you don't want to watch the whole thing.
“There ain’t no man on no moon!”
It takes 4 hours to receive a transmission from the probe.

The camera on New Horizons is a fixed focus digital camera designed specifically for the fly by sequences, not some backyard telescope with a focus capability.
Someone send the idiot wagon over to pick this guy up. That said, he’ll probably have his own show on Discovery by this fall.
NASA would be faking alien-built machinery and structures if they were trying to pump up the need for exploration. Spending years of effort to get a couple days of distraction out of some photos of a rocky planet is hardly worth the effort to fake it.
So the transmission is traveling at potentially a billion miles per hour? You know that’s faster than the speed of light....
