I like Wendy’s.
Whatadumb thing to do.
“Hey Lookit! Unarmed people!”
It’s their property and it is theirs to control. Just like people are in control of whether they eat there or not.
As far as open carry to me its a dumb idea to advertise that you are armed. But if people want to that’s up to them.
People don't like companies telling them what to do, how to live, and especially
messing with our Constitutional rights. They can rot out of business, and deserve it.
And it's not something that will happen all day long either, it's just the fact
they've decided to take an anti-American stance on the 2nd Amendment. Which is ironic
because the Second protects the first which gives them the right to do this.
They just told a huge customer base to FU_K OFF.
I guess they are doing so well they can afford it.
Just another restaurant to avoid.
Saw a couple cops in a WB the other week...and they were open carrying....
So just conceal like we’ve been doing for years.
If they posted a 30.06 sign it would be a different story.
IMHO open carry just tells the bad guys whom they need to take out first.
I have never wanted to open carry other than when hunting or plinking on my own property.
Still I think open carry is a good law. It keeps the cops from claiming they saw the print of a gun in your clothes.
I think Georgia has recently passed a law to make it clear that accidentally exposing a firearm is not illegal.
I understand Whattaburger’s stance, many people are uncomfortable with people openly carrying. Despite that I think they are making a mistake as there are a lot of gun owners who see it as an unfriendly act by Whattaburger.
There are many businesses with the same policy, including at least some of Whataburger’s competitors. How about doctors’ offices and hospitals? Will they be boycotted?
So they are denying people an accommodation because someone exercises their rights?
Isn’t this a civil rights violation?
In the news a barbecue concern gave free BBQ sandwich with another sandwich purchase for anyone open carrying, and was mobbed by customers from all over the country. A ton of publicity, national noteriety, now a place on the bend in the road nobody heard of is a huge success.
Don’t correct an idiot, take back the country so a conservative can take his place. If they go out of business I hope in 2016 a church buys it and changes the name to Jesus Burgers. All the food is blessed. Just for the sake of the liberal heads that would start spinning and vomiting pea soup.
They can do as they wish, which includes making decisions that will DRIVE THEM OUT OF BUSINESS.
Hopefully other businesses will learn from them - that it is best to STAY CLEAR of politics, particularly being on the wrong side of an issue.
Please read the article it says the ban is for open carry OK for concealed carry.
I don’t have any problem with this decision. To begin with, the restaurants are private property and Whataburger has every right to set the rules for guests on its premises. Second, this restriction applies only to open carry weapons and does not prohibit customers with concealed weapons.
Good luck to Whataburger.
The welding supply (Praxair) I used to trade with posted no CHL allowed shortly after the school shooting in Connecticut.
I think I first bought stuff from them in 1983. Over the years, I bought probably >$5K in machines alone.
I never felt the need to CHL carry in the store but I started trading with another supplier.
Today the building is vacant and has been for months.
Whataburger can become vacant for all I care.
