Love the editing of the scratched out of the word "Dog" and substituted word "Cat" on the award!

Basset Hound. It’s the answer to every question.

The Basset is a very Zen sort of being. You find yourself staring it and wonder WTF God was thinking in creating such a creature...and then enlightenment strikes.

Enlightenment being the realization that God just played a hell of a joke and you bought one. Then the suffering begins ;)

Mine lived until she was 24. It wasn’t even my cat but then it just decided it was for some reason and the owner didn’t want to separate her from me.

It’s crazy but they get you like that.

I miss her almost like she was one of my own kids.

These days, male is female, white is black ... why not feline is canine?! LOL!

I remember this episode when it first happened. Kudos to the cat!

(even though I'm a dog person)!

24. wow. Spending that much time with a cat you will grow very close. Sorry for your loss.
Like I said, he is my best buddy. I’ve been though some hard times the past bunch of years and the only one who accepted me no matter what was my buddy. :)

A cat and a Basset are guaranteed entertainment. When the Basset is a puppy, it will trip over its ears chasing the cat around the house and the cat will taunt it endlessly into doing so.

The cat however has a problem. When the Basset grows a paw larger than the cat’s head, the Basset will use that paw to pin the cat’s head down on the floor taunting IT endlessly and the cat spazzes.

You can charge admission to the neighborhood and profit handsomely.

its obvious the cat considers it self socially a dog not a cat and identifies with the dog community. so the because inwardly the cat believes it is a dog it is all right forb us to give it a dog award and we should all just shut up and treat the boys cat as a dog.

Our cat, self-named Brutus, bosses our two dogs. They seem to worship her.

Slight error there. Tara the cat fought off a dog that attacked the junior member of her staff. One always needs to protect and defend their property.

No, then you realize a basset is the result of man messing with God’s creation.

The full size Hound it started as isn’t a heck of a lot different in the brain dept. Just longer legs. Same shape, same temperament, same clownish look. Same lovely musical voice. Just taller.

Yes, but the full-sized hound was the result of St. Hubert’s tinkering. Apparently it is thought that there was a mutation between the two—which some could seen as God’s response to Hubert’s original tinkering:

That was very fair of them, this kitty most certainly deserved an award for its brave actions. I bet the ceremony was not what they were used to, though!

Oh you are absolutely right, no question. Having been ruled by several in my life I know their history well.

But ultimately all they did was selective breeding. Humans have done the very same thing, as without that ‘race’ wouldn’t exist. We’d all be light brown with dark hair. Hubie just refined the process.
