So do you expect Toyota passenger cars, SUVs, or small trucks with diesels anytime soon in the US?

I am in the market for small to medium sized passenger vehicle, diesel.

So far it looks like VW/Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Chevy are the choices.

The 2.0 liter engines from VW/Audi, BMW and Chevy seem like the choice for EPA fuel mileage, which is about 30 city and 40 hwy.

Any suggestions?

OK, I’m going to postpone my purchase of the new truck until I see how this motor stacks up against the Eco Boost gas engine.

Looks like a nice engine. Now, if Toyota could make a car or truck that didn’t look like a piece of crap styled by some over-reaching anime influenced kid, I’d be interested. I want to drive an anonymous car, not some spaceship bling thing.

Gas or diesel, TURBO is the ONLY way to go! Don’t buy a new car unless it’s a TURBO!!!! If you want better gas mileage, go easy on the gas pedal.. If you want to go zoooooom, pedal to the floor and VAVOOOOOM, WARP SPEEEED!!!!

Toyota has had a popular diesel for some time, just not available in the USA of course.

Was curious about the non-functional hood scopp on my 4Runner. Turns out it is functional with the diesel option.

For the metrically challenged, 130kw and 450N.m converts to 174.3HP and 332ft/lbs. That's stump puller torque.
