20th Century Fox is excited about a new take from X-Men: First Class writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz
Dwayne The Rock Johnson is in negotiations to star in and produce a remake of John Carpenters cult classic Big Trouble in Little China that will be written by X-Men: First Class scribes Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, multiple individuals familiar with the project have told TheWrap.
A representative for 20th Century Fox did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Johnson is making a deal to play Jack Burton, an all-American trucker who gets dragged into a centuries-old mystical battle in San Franciscos Chinatown

Just remember what ol’ Jack Burton does when the earth quakes, and the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven shake. Yeah, Jack Burton just looks that big ol’ storm right square in the eye and he says, “Give me your best shot, pal. I can take it.”
Dwayne .... as Snake Plissken
Yeah, Escape from New York II
Ditto, I’ve watched it maybe 6 or 8 times. Always funny.
They should learn from Jaws. The original coming back to theaters this summer for it’s 40 year anniversary.
Another generation about to become afraid of the ocean.
Saw San Andreas yesterday. If you like Johnson, you’ll probably like that movie.
Jack Burton: If you have problem like that again, just reach for the sky!
Timothy Olyphant would be my only guess off the top of my head.
I agree with you. I couldn’t even finish watching it.
It's in my "desert island" favorites list. So watchable, so quotable!
Same here. Finally, we have an American action hero.
Originality is risky, I guess.
Hollywood originally made remakes because the first version was a silent movie, or maybe it was in black and white. Why any movie made after 1966 needs to be remade is beyond me. Just buy the DVD. Of course if there is money to be made...
‘It’s all in the reflexes!’
Dwayne Johnson will next star in a remake of Kurt Russell’s “Used Cars”!
Literally LOL’d. Great line. Thanks for the laugh!
I cant take it anymore.
I hear ya. As such offenses go, however, this is merely unnecessary, not truly offensive. Now, the currently-in-production remake of Ben-Hur, *that* is offensive.
Now that really pisses me off to no end!
