Playing C&W and/or classical would have the same effect. I'm sure the places with the problems play hip-hop on the PA system. It's like a feedback loop.
Well it’s been at least 5 years since we have bought even a coffee from McD’s. The food always even as a kid gave me diarrhea within 30 minutes of consuming.
We stopped at a Lowe's once. Worked out pretty well.
it used to have the best fries but they changed the oil and now they’re soggy
They did in the 70’s. Wendy’s has them beat hands down on fries.
Doomed? Yeah right, I was told in 1977 by a Texan that Whataburger was going to put McD’s out of business, I’m still waiting.
I used to love their frys and would get a bigmac to eat with them. No more. In Southern California, the frys are now mushy and greasy. It has been that way for about 2 years.
The Corp. makes the vast majority of it's money off the backs of Franchisee through rent and service fees, they worked on the man I was employed by for decades to tear down and remodel what was my base store. He refused because it was his bread and butter store with low fees, well he lost the fight this year, the old store is gone and one of those new, clone stores has taken it's place.
I like Five Guys.
They don't cook or assemble your burger until you order it. Then you sit down for a few minutes until it's ready. Near the tables is a big sack of free in the shell peanuts to keep you alive until they call your number.
Also, low overhead (mucho bags of potatoes around the edges of the room). Order the small fries first time.
No drive through, a bit pricey, but worth it, IMO.
They’re good.
Thank you all.
Great tip on the small fries!
Someone posted a link, what you did not know about McDonald’s, Sharon Stone and Jay Leno worked there.
I’ve heard, in the old America; for young people and perhaps others, that was a good job to get, almost prestigious. Interesting.
Ray Kroc is rolling in his grave!!
You can mention Smash Burger where I’ve eaten, good enough or 5 guys, these may be gourmet burger joints for how the terminology is today, as chains they are tiny compared to McDonald’s and probably compared to Wendy’s and Burger King too.
I like Dairy Queen’s Braziers well enough.
I was at a McDonald’s a few days ago and it was jammed. Maybe their profits are down, but they still seem to have a lot of customers. On the other hand, Sears . . .
They’ve been going downhill ever since they stopped asking to “supersize” your order.
How has Burger King “gone gay”?
If I may, from what I know, that was just one Burger King in the Bay Area that put rainbow wrappers on some of their Whoppers, that was a national news story. Other than that, I haven’t heard of anything else.
Individual owners own some of these franchises, do I really care what some owner at a BK does when I probably will never be within 500 miles of it? Not really.
Natural aging of a corporation. McDonald’s is exiting the growth stage and entering the mature corporation stage. I would expect them to weed out lesser profitable stores and be more selective in opening new stores and introducing new products. Gross revenues may decline but profitability and dividends will probably be higher.
