Happy Birthday Glen and may God bless you. I wish you could know how proud all your fans are of you for the way you have battled this disease. Thanks for everything!

Alzheimer's is a terrible disease. I pray for him and his family.

I honestly thought he had died.
Haven't heard him in a long, long, time.
Not into country, anyway, but he had a couple of songs that evoke memories of other, good times for me.
I have particularly fond memories of he and Buck Owens and Roy Clark doing some Bluegrass once upon a time, either on his show or that old Hee Haw show.
I recall a guitar player that was on his show occasionally, can't remember his name, but they complimented one another very well.
He didn't do a lot of Bluegrass, but when he did...
God bless him.
Alzheimer's is a terrible disease, I watched my father die from it.

That would be either Chet Atkins or Jerry Reed.
Nashville Cats.

Definitely an icon in my growing up years. The first song that came to my mind was “Lineman”.

Locals say he was born in Billstown. Delight (”Dee-light”) is the nearby metropolis.

and in 1960, he relocated to Los Angeles to become a session musician.
My brother had his high skoo graduation in 1963, and the entertainer at the restaurant gala was Glen Campbell.
Also, back in 2009, wifey and I went on a cross-country driving trip and went through Delight on the way to Crater of Diamonds State Park.....beautiful country, with a funky, faded little "birthplace of Glen Campbell" sign as we toodled through the tiny town.

By the Time I Get to Phoenix In its description of a day-long journey, presumably by road, through Phoenix to Oklahoma, the song doesn't mention a starting point. I figure the singer probably began his trip in Buckeye, Goodyear or Avondale, Ariz. In 1967, the journey would have been mostly over two-lane highways, so he would have had to start early to reach Texhoma, the closest town in Oklahoma, in a single day.

That one would be as un-PC today as “Wives and Lovers”....heh.
