“Whenever I hear his songs I hear Galveston or Lineman, I hear AMERICA”
When Galveston was a hit I’d never been further west than New York City, and it conjured up images of the Old West. Even though it’s strictly Gulf Coast. I think at that time I was not even aware it was an island, even though the song mentioned “sea waves”.
I finally got there on Christmas Day 2013 with relatives from Houston. Almost everything was closed, so we went to a Chinese Buffet and ate all their crab.

For me is when I was a child on a family vacation to Mexico City where my father’s family are. We would travel by car thru Arizona, and Texas. I recall a beautiful sunset among the openness desert and on the radio Glenn’s songs would be played. There was something so spiritual listening to his songs and viewing this vast open space which I consider the Old West. Just remembering the images of open space of desert, and cactus brought a smile to my face. Whenever I hear his songs today, I may not be traveling anymore but it still does bring a smile to my face.
