Car crashes through Corunna pizza storefront, shop reopens hours later

Selina Bradford, 31, was preparing her weekly order and just hitting stride for her double shift Monday, April 13, when a woman came through the store.

The trouble is the woman was driving, and Main Street Pizza at 307 N. Shiawassee St. in Corunna is not a drive-through.

The woman crashed through the storefront in her white Chevy Impala around 12:30 p.m. and continued into the store until her car was stopped by the bathroom wall, Bradford said.

"The instant it hit, I stepped forward and saw her hit the wall," Bradford said, adding that she was in disbelief when it happened. "I instantly called 911."

Police could not be immediately contacted for comment.

Main Street Pizza had just opened the new location two and a half weeks ago, Bradford said.

After firefighters removed the car, employees cleaned up the store and then proceeded to do the obvious: make more pizza.

After just a few hours of being closed, the store reopened around 5 p.m. the same day, with the front half of the store boarded up.

"It was definitely a crazy way to start a long day," Bradford said.

And in both cases, having a car crash through the window puts a dent in the pleasure.

Almost looks like she opted to scoot across traffic and forgot there she was at a "T" intersection.

Had a friend driving us around while we drank way back when. It was foggy and we were on a lot of the backwoods county roads and hadn't seen another car for a while. he picked on stop sign to run and he picked the wrong one - the farmer helped pull us out of his field and remarked that the last guy had been more ambitious and beat us by about 50 feet...
