The New York Police Department detective filmed unleashing a xenophobic rant on an Uber driver this week has been identified as a member of the FBI's top-secret Joint Terrorism Task Forces (JTTF) — an elite, multi-agency team headquartered in New York. The officer is now facing suspension after the video of him mocking the driver's accent and screaming obscenities at him went viral this week.

The fact is the good cops know about the bad cops and generally don’t do anything

Probably the same for physicians, plumbers, philosophers...

Thats exactly right!

Can’t have it both ways!

PICK ONE!

Not so "top-secret" any more. Part of the job is to stay low-profile, not attract undue attention.

This is the 'Big Apple'!
Almost everybody wants their fifteen minutes of fame.

He got his!

It ain’t over until he’s stripped of his gun, badge, and taxpayer financed pension.

Then it’s over.

I hate cites, live about 30 miles out of Chicongo would not want to go there with out an armored column and aerial escort .
All three might need a tune up to teach them the error of their ways?

I would not get too carried away in that direction.

Note well: ‘The best is the enemy of the good’.

look at Dayton ohio, if you have a nice tan and only a FEW prior convictions, welcome to the police force!

That will work real well!

I don’t see where the driver or his fares did anything wrong. YMMV. Apparently.

I live about 35 miles or so outside of Chicago and I sometimes have to go there for business. But I carry at least one high capacity firearm and two spare magazines when I do, gun free zones be damned.

And I am less charitable towards police misconduct. Cops are given enormous power as well as the presumption of honesty by the State. This type of behavior can not be tolerated. It’s completely corrosive to the public good.

This ass clown needs to be fired and banned from ever having the power of arrest again.

The fact is the good cops know about the bad cops and generally don’t do anything about it unless embarassed enough with hard evidence that cannot be ignored with zero response.

Every LEO force ought to have an honor code -- like our military academies -- that punishes those who tolerate bad, if not illegal behavior, as much, if not more, than the person who enagages in the primary misconduct.

You still don’t know what you’re talking about, and probably never will. You sound like someone who always wanted to be a cop but couldn’t make the grade.

And you sound like a dick cop. This guy was way out of line. He should be unemployed.

"In that kind of encounter, anger like that is unacceptable. In any kind of encounter, discourtesy like that and language like that is unacceptable," he (Bratton) said. "No good cop can watch that without a wince. All good cops know that the officer just made their jobs a little bit harder."

Really. Who thinks this is the first time this guy has acted this way? He just did it in front of a camera this time.

It does not appear that Mr.Temporary FBI guy noticed the camera.

My opinion is that better cops notice most everything, and remember it.

Of course he didn't. That's why he behaved the way he did. He just didn't know his behavior was captured on video.

Kinda like this guy (watch to the end):

http://youtu.be/w-WMn_zHCVo

This is why these chumps always try to collect all phones & cameras as "evidence" whenever there antics go sideways.
