I should have stipulated that I agreed with everything but the Professor part. LOL

I think her husband was an architectural professor. That’s pretty harmless as far as social engineering goes.

And you teach?

Regards.

Good observations. They are playing along with Diana and the others.

Carol was definitely telling Diana what she wanted to hear while she was being videotaped.

I can’t remember what Daryl said while being taped.

When I saw Carol’s interview my first thought was. “wise as a serpent-gentle as a dove”. Carol has years of experience in this behaviour to survive being married to Ed.

One thing nobody mentioned was how Aholes search party from before lost four people. Weren’t there FOUR rotters at the house outside the gate that Rick and son dispatched?

I did notice the wolf comic but didn’t think the girl was a spy but it makes sense... I did wonder if there as a connection

I got really skeeved out when she(whats her name-Diane?)said she was a congresscritter-my first thought was some DC elites “exiled” the original occupants of this planned off the grid liberal utopia.

I think Aiden is intentionally putting the stronger people in harm’s way. He is a colossal douche and probably wants to hold onto his position.

I think Daryl’s going to be toast pretty soon. The underlying reason would be that he didn’t toe the line and fall in with the rest of “society”. At this point it might not even be about insecurity or feeling like a second class citizen. I think now it’s really about knowing what reality is and standing one’s ground and remaining authentic.

Daryl will die for his rugged individualism

Society does not treat rugged individual types well

If it follows the book, those two are basically nobodies. But, there’s a major, central character coming up who is a gaysha. I assume he’ll appear on the show, but I don’t really read behind-the-scenes info.

LOl! That's what I thought, too. I also chuckled at her line about the "communists must have won" or something like that.

I would have said, "Yep, and it only took millions of deaths to do it, just like every other time it's 'won.'"

Wow, what a contrast between Carl and the other boys....He doesn't know how to interact with them.

While his childhood was made up of surviving and killing, these kids were playing video games.......

Until that scene, I think we all forgot just how grownup Carl has become....

He had a look on his face like “Video games? Really?” but he finally decided to jump in and be a kid for a while

I also thought it was weird how the pictures were removed from the frames and frames were stacked neatly on the table. There was a Star of David left on the wall my son said but I missed that.

“Ouch! I’m a university professor. I think I was just insulted.”

I think what I objected to most was the way she said it. Ironically I was an adjunct Professor at SUNY Albany for several years.

“I just started watching it...let me just say, when that lady said she was a “Congress person””

As a nitpicker I thought it strange she called herself a Congress person which is a term usually reserved for a generic congress critter. She should have said Congress woman.

She reminds me of Hitlery, there is no way she is up to any good. I’m hoping the writers are going to give an example of what happens when commies run things, like she starts taking their rights away - the guns are the first example. Then all the other rights go as well until Rick and the gang are oppressed and if they speak out against Hitlery they get the death sentence.

There were certain things about Daryl in this episode which bugged me...sort of felt “off.” I couldn’t put my finger on why that was the case, but the idea that he was playing a part made everything fall into place.

During his interview he said that the boy and the baby deserved a roof....”I guess.” “I guess?” That doubt isn’t in line with his character at all. He would do anything for those kids; in fact he offered up his life to Joe and his gang to save Rick and family.

I thought the “we brought dinner” line was funny, but it seemed a bit odd that Daryl would actually think the people in that nice clean place needed a possum for food. Then, pulling out its guts right there on the porch where anyone passing by can see? I think the plan is for the Alexandrians to focus their attention on him.

Michonne was left out of the nighttime conversation on the porch, I noticed. IMO Rick understands that she’s desperate for this to work out, and may not be receptive to what he, Daryl, and Carol are doing.

You’re absolutely right. I caught that, too. Carl was uncomfortable with those “kids”.

And Carl told his Dad that the other people were all “soft”.

"When I saw Carol’s interview my first thought was. “wise as a serpent-gentle as a dove”. Carol has years of experience in this behaviour to survive being married to Ed."

Yes, that's a great point. In fact, in one episode I think she told Rick about routinely lying to ER staff about her various injuries and broken bones.

"One thing nobody mentioned was how Aholes search party from before lost four people. Weren’t there FOUR rotters at the house outside the gate that Rick and son dispatched?"

I think you might be right. She didn't say WHY they were exiled, did she?

"I did notice the wolf comic but didn’t think the girl was a spy but it makes sense... I did wonder if there as a connection"

Yep, I'm not clear on a lot of stuff from the comics, and I'm reserving judgement on the girl.

"I got really skeeved out when she(whats her name-Diane?)said she was a congresscritter-my first thought was some DC elites “exiled” the original occupants of this planned off the grid liberal utopia."

Deanna...yes, Democrat or Republican, I wouldn't trust her. She's smooth, I give her that.

"I think Aiden is intentionally putting the stronger people in harm’s way. He is a colossal douche and probably wants to hold onto his position."

I love Glenn for laying that jerk out. Michonne was like, "Do you want to end up on your butt again?" LOL. I don't think Aidan would want to mess with Rick or Daryl, or possibly Abraham.

"I think Daryl’s going to be toast pretty soon. The underlying reason would be that he didn’t toe the line and fall in with the rest of “society”. At this point it might not even be about insecurity or feeling like a second class citizen. I think now it’s really about knowing what reality is and standing one’s ground and remaining authentic."

Like I posted a moment ago, I think he's playing a part, just like Carol. His reaction to Alexandria seemed just a little too over-the-top to be real. He was aggressive and anti-social around the Alexandria people, and stormed off furiously when Rick was made constable. But later that evening, he was fine with it.

"Daryl will die for his rugged individualism

Society does not treat rugged individual types well."

Well, not normal society. But in the post-apocalyptic world, rugged individualism is what keeps you alive.

Good observations, Catherine.

Remember when Daryl went off by himself in the last episode and broke down? I think he’s playing along but something just isn’t right with him right now.

I think they are letting Michonne enjoy the place but know that she will come around and be able to rely on her when the time comes. Michonne is very perceptive and will see the place and people for what they are.

Michonne was right there and ready when Glenn decked that punk.

I wouldn’t trust Diana as far as I could throw Abraham.

I think Rick and others are taking advantage of the place and playing along to a certain extent to allow themselves to rest up and replenish their energy.

They are not going to let these people get them. But who is lurking in the background that they don’t know about?

How about the “Junior League” question.

That was an absolute howler!

Carls interaction with the other teenagers, was for me one of the saddest parts of this show.Carl has no idea how to be a “normal” teenager anymore.Hes right, they all are too soft.
