Scott Walker: 'I Don't Really Know' Whether Obama Loves America
Huffington Post ^ | 2-21-2015 | Igor Bobic

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) on Friday continued to dance around controversial comments made by former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

Asked whether he agreed with Giuliani's contention that President Barack Obama doesn't love America, a remark made at a private dinner for Walker in New York, the governor said, "I don't really know what his opinions are on that one way or another."

“I assume most people in this country love America," he told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in an interview in Washington, D.C. "And to me I don’t think it’s worth getting into the battle over whether he does or he doesn’t. He can handle that himself. I know I do."

"And I know there are great people in this country who love this country and who ... feel this country’s exceptional and it doesn’t necessarily align by party," he added. "I think there are Republicans and Democrats and plenty of people in between. I’ve never asked the president so I don’t really know what his opinions are on that one way or another.”

Look at the comments on HP. The Libtards are frothing at the mouth.

Did you know that Rudy is a Traitor? Neither did I until I read the comments.

I left a few responses for the entertainment value, but they are insane over there.

Walker didn't get where he is today by being "squishy".

He's where he's at in the rarified air of the political big leagues because he's expert at knowing when to hold 'em and when to "told" 'em.

Rudy is canny, also. He's deliberately taking the heat off the possible GOP candidates. He got the words out we've all been WAITING TO HEAR. He knew he'd fall into a hornet's nest....he didn't give a damn....and we love him for it. Believe me, there's no need for candidates Cruz, Walker and other conservative favorites to go spouting off with ultra-controversial buzz words right now. Let others do it for them. And let the media suck air!

Don't think that a lot of these guys aren't coordinating with each other. For example, some non-candidates like Rudy will be acting as lightning rods for others who are going to throw their hats in the ring. Get used to it. A number of candidates and GOP big names will be working together. It's all part of the political chess games.

Nitpickers who call Walker a "squish" just because of this incident reveal the fact that they know little about political strategery.....nor have they much sense of what's always going on behind the scenes.....nor do they have too much sense of the well-planned GOP political timing that goes on during the course of pre-campaigning.

In this case, I trust the experience and knowledge of Rudy and Walker more than I do that of politically-naive armchair strategists who never even ran for a bus in their whole lives let alone state and national office.

If there’s a question then that’s your answer. He doesn’t.

Why not ask Jeremiah Wright for his opinion? Maybe he could shed some light on the question.

Is Walker getting squishy

No, he got it just right. Giuliani brought up the issue and wise Republican contenders will say just what Walker did. Walker can't speak for Obama (and certainly didn't defend Obama's degree of love for America) but he can speak for himself. And he did.

Scott Walker either has very good instincts or very good consultants. He did a nice reset on the invasion of the US and did a nice deflect back to Obama with this one.

Is Walker getting squishy?

How was his answer squishy?

Seems like he handled himself quite well...

Only a bonehead would give the MSM red meat to chew on...

He threw the question right back at Obama...

"And to me I don’t think it’s worth getting into the battle over whether he does or he doesn’t. He can handle that himself. I know I do."

No. It’s the perfect answer. It leaves the question open, but doesn’t get him bogged down defending Rudy’s statement.

Or perhaps this question: “Why would anybody want to ‘fundamentally change’ anything that they supposedly love?”

Of course he is squishy. It is a simple question to answer. Simply say his actions are inconsistent with someone that loves America and explain why. Never get caught in a trap where you claim you can read someone’s mind. No need. Talk about actions not thoughts.

Giuliani said this at Walker’s fundraiser. Now I remember in the past day or so Trump and Walker had a conversation that Trump said was “very interesting”. Now Giuliani and Trump are thick enough as thieves to do something like that YouTube video of Giuliani in drag, is this a hit on Walker coming from that direction? Giuliani did double down, and all but broke out in “yo mama is so...” type of talking smack.

No. This is exactly the sort of question politicians not in favor with the press should give an “I don’t know” answer to — one that is entirely subjective, and also one that deflects the conversation from “what my plan is” to “what my opponent is up to.” The press is trying to get him to say something sure to offend, not only Obama supporters, but also people who hate mud flinging.

Mind you, my gut says Giulani is correct, but I wouldn’t say so in public without hard evidence. Why should Walker commit to a position he can’t prove, especially when that position has nothing to do with what he wants to accomplish?

Well! I don't know if Obama Loves America or not but if he does he [sure] has a way of showing it

Exactly! What matters is what the Liberal Messiah does, not as much why. If I'm trying to kill you, your primary concern should not be my motive.

The Liberal Media will ask every Republican candidate if he agrees with Giuliani. It's a trap question. If the Republican agrees, he's being racist and disrespectful to the office of President. If he disagrees, then the LM will play up there being a division amongst Republicans regarding Giuliani's comments. Don't play into the LM's trap by attacking Walker for how is answers this trap question.
