How was intelligence gauged? Could they survive without technology? Because they have smart phone does that make them smart or dependent?
To: moose07
Had an iPhone for years, now have a droid. Not necessarily better just different.
I have 2 higher degrees and what I’ve seen in the process of getting them doesn’t support a strong corelation between intelligence and diplomas,
All that said, Mac users thin they are in an IQ club and the people swayed by such things think owning a MAC or iPhone proves that they are smart.

I question the IQ level of anyone who pays 800 bucks or more for any phone. And anyone who stands in line to buy a phone and pay full price are by definition dumber than dog sh!t.
Why, because even dog sh!t isn't dumb enough to stand in line all day to buy something that will be readily available in just a few more days or weeks.

As an android user, I feel dumber... because I just read this stupid article on my “smart” phone.

I fine example of meaningless statistics. The range between “very low” and “very high” is 9%. Not very impressive.

I have iPhones. Both my wife and myself.
I’m a regular here on FR.
I’m therefore smarter than the average.
Proof, once again that iPhones attract intelligence.
This is what passes for proof in this study. It ignores the simple and well established fact that correlation does not equal causation.
OTOH, iPhones are better than Android phones.
Have I confused anyone?
To: moose07
I currently own both an iPhone and an Android, so I can speak with some experience. The iPhone is easier to use for some complicated tasks, the tasks Apple ALLOWS you to perform. This makes the user feel smug and competent. The Android requires more complex setup for these tasks and so some people might choose to avoid them.
The biggest differences is that Android doesn't restrict the user nearly as much as Apple does, so the Android becomes far more versatile, for those who want to do more than take pictures, email, and chat.
If you believe the article then, Apple owners may have more education, but Android users likely have more technical competence.

I use a cheap Tracfone becuse I can’t have a camera on mine. Don’t ask why. Better signal than my high tech phone.

Correlation does not equal causation.
As a college graduate and iphone user, I say the conclusions drawn from this “study” are a load of crap.

Aside from the relative merits of the devices, the idea of tying intelligence to having a college degree is ludicrous. Lots of idiots scrape out a degree and many very smart people don’t go to college because they have no need to.

Is REFUSING to be trendy a sign of being smart?
I suppose that to the “author” of this tripe, continously checking web sites for release dates, waiting in lines for days and paying outrageous prices for a hand held pacifier somehow makes one “smart”.
Android user here and I’ve had it for ~3 years with no problems...why keep flushing $$ down the drain every year to be trendy?

That map shows Alaska high on iPhone usage and Arizona low. Maybe there’s a conservative Republican who owns real estate in both states who could explain why. If she has the time ...
