I currently own both an iPhone and an Android, so I can speak with some experience. The iPhone is easier to use for some complicated tasks, the tasks Apple ALLOWS you to perform. This makes the user feel smug and competent. The Android requires more complex setup for these tasks and so some people might choose to avoid them.

The biggest differences is that Android doesn't restrict the user nearly as much as Apple does, so the Android becomes far more versatile, for those who want to do more than take pictures, email, and chat.

If you believe the article then, Apple owners may have more education, but Android users likely have more technical competence.
