The Colbert Reports replacement, The Nightly Show, has only been on the air for two days, but its host Larry Wilmore has already gone after Bill Cosby.
As Vulture reported, Wilmore opened last nights show by addressing the fact that so many people are still doubting the women who are alleging that Cosby drugged and assaulted them, calling out Cosby for embarking on an ill-timed and poorly named comedy tour, and for shushing hecklers with a creepy Shh shh approach.
Wilmore does have a point. It is a really bad idea to send someone in the middle of a high-profile sexual assault controversy out on a tour called, Far From Finished. And while, the bit about how Cosby should handle hecklers seems a little off topic, the comic was dead on about the inherent sexism that is underlying much of this controversy.
The Nightly Show host also explained that there are just too many women who have come forward to ignore. He said, The current tally is 35 women thats like if Bill Cosby drugged and raped every U.S. president from George Washington to John F. Kennedy.
Of course, this is just Larry Wilmores opinion on the matter, and you can press him personally for more details. Comedy Central announced on Twitter that you could tweet any question you have about Bill Cosby to @LarryWilmore today:

Wilmore may just be the latest in a long line of comics ranging from Hannibal Buress to Tina Fey to Abdul Butt to go after Cosby, but whats striking is that hes launching his new show by addressing this controversy. It signals that The Nightly Show might be willing to address topics other late night shows prefer to sidestep out of nicety. [Watch The Nightly Show]
“Is it because most of this allegedly happened so long ago?”
The alleged victims from long ago did not suddenly come forward. Last October, a comedian (black, by the way,) told his audience to google “Cosby rape.” That brought up a bunch of old cases from before there was an Internet. People started looking into those old cases, digging up the alleged victims. As the story grew, more victims came forward in support.
“Is it because some of them went into Cosbys hotel room alone?”
One alleged victim told how Cosby invited her to his home for dinner and let her bring her little daughter along. This gave the woman the impression that Cosby was a decent guy. When she went back a second time, without her daughter, Cosby drugged her. Cosby was clever. He knew how to earn his victims’ trust. He had a wholesome, fatherly image. But even the women who went to the Playboy club or willingly went to his hotel room were not asking for, nor did they deserve, to be drugged and raped.
“Is it because hes so famous?”
Some of the victims probably thought, “What chance do I have against the rich, famous Cosby?” So they kept quiet. Or, when they started to tell their stories, people reacted to them the same way a lot of Freepers are reacting now. “You’re lying. It was consensual, you tramp. You just want his money. What were you doing there with him in the first place,” etc., etc. So—they probably shut up! Who can blame them?
I think it’s entirely possible, in fact probable, that most or all of the accusers are telling the truth. We may never know.
Nothing compared to Cosby, Cosby appears to be a real live, lifelong, serial rapist.
While we already assume that Clinton is a rapist, and assaults women, his history pales compared to Cosby, yet Cosby has his defenders, some of them very passionate about it.
I agree with that.
The left wants ALL minorities on the plantation. Those who stray off are ripped to shreds.
I appreciate your posts, especially in the face of some of the opposition you get.
Thanks.
I think that some posters don’t realize how deep this history goes back with Bill Cosby.
Some think that this is just a flurry of accusations that popped up in recent months and involves a few young girls in LA and Gloria Allred, and is just a short lived, out of nowhere nothing story involving a celebrity victim, they don’t realize that Cosby has been fighting to keep a lid on this and his other sex problems for decades, and has already settled one drugging rape case in the past.
Cosby has never strayed off the democrat plantation.
Have you tried to make that silly claim in the past?
Actually, it's more like leftist-rapist Bill Cosby decided on behalf of dozens of women that they would unvoluntarily join his harem-"plantation" for night-hours at a time as they became slaves of his sexual addiction.
Every now & then I happened to agree with left-of-center Jay Leno, who is liberal on many issues yet populist on others: To paraphrase Leno... "In Saudi Arabia, it takes two women to accuse a man...in America, I guess it takes 25."
