Thanks, AFTR, for picking up the baton
+1
Thanks for the heads-up, Sunk.
I hope they don’t hollyweird it up.
I was very disappointed by “Turn”.
Thanks for that alert. I missed that series the first time around.
I was disappointed by the series, and I won’t be watching the next installment, but I must admit that there is some fine acting in it, and the actors playing Simcoe and Rogers are just fabulous.
Why?
Thanks so much for the post and ping! I look forward to this series...
I realize that a drama — and a comedy — must have some tension in the plot, but this story was stretched too far. Also, the mumbling of some of the actors and the style of the videography made it difficult for me to follow sometimes.
Just an old fuddy-duddy here, I suppose, who does not “get” today’s entertainment style.
My detailed objections:
1) Hard to follow the story, as some of the actors did not speak clearly, especially the main character. We never had trouble understanding the English characters. Too many times we had to rewind the DVR to catch dialogue.
2) Hard to follow the story when too many scenes were shot in darkness.
3) The story deviated much too far from the book it was based on, particularly with the sexual affair added.
4) I did not appreciate the sex scenes. Glad I did not have any young ones watching it with me.
On the plus side, it did make me do some searches and learn a little more about the Revolution. I now know a little bit about Rogers, whom I had never even heard of before.
It’s too bad this series is over. I would like to see it turned into a longer series.
I thought it was very well done. Who knows? Perhaps they’ll continue the story with another 3 episodes next year.
I am amazed at how many versions of theevents surrounding the Revolutionary War have been playing on TV this past week. I’m just about to go watch Patriots Rising that I DVRed yesterday.
I guess it was so subtle that I did not pick up on it!
If you are referring to Margaret Gage and Joseph Warren, I don’t think that is a proven fact — just a rumor. I wish that they had not presented that as fact. I looked up Margaret Gage and she remained married to Gage and bore 11 children and died in England,so it hardly seems possible that she betrayed him with Warren.
