A law firm representing the families of nine of the 26 people killed and a teacher injured at the Sandy Hook Elementary School says it has filed a lawsuit against the manufacturer, distributor and seller of the rifle used in the shooting.
The negligence and wrongful death lawsuit asserts that the Bushmaster AR-15 rifle should not have been made publicly available because it is a military weapon unsuited for civilian use.

I get that they are grieving and will for a long, long time to come. I feel very sad for them. But that does not excuse the ignorance behind this stupid assumption that taking away our guns will stop acts of violence. To be safer, we need more gun freedoms, not fewer.
ABSOLUTELY NOT!
That sets precedent. Any “victory” in this is a severe loss to the 2A.
“1851 Navy revolvers can also provide sustained firepower.”
And awesome when fired in the dark! I shoot a replica. Much fun!
By this logic, why not sue the car manufacturer that the shooter used to drive to the school?
“...according to the constitution that is precisely the
arm (military) defined that we, not only have a right but are civilly obligated to possess...”
Exactly!
I have to keep watch on my Ruger 556, it keeps trying to unzip its storage bag!
I caught it trying to take a selfie with some nice new sexy Magpuls!!
Until 1986, this was not an issue with civilian firearms. You could get select fire rifles with only a additional tax to be paid, at one time, there was no additional tax. And converting any gun to full auto only required complying with the fed tax.
The original, full auto “tommey gun” was not sold to the government, but marketed to citizens.
I guess enforcement of the “Protection in Lawful Commerce Act” is optional now that we have an emperor instead of a president?
They didn't do their homework.
Google is their friend, if they used it:
Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act
This is not about legislating via the courts. This is only about money.
What changed in 1986?
they should be suing the morons who created an attractive target by making the school ‘gun free’ and disarmed every person who could have protected those children. those people who enacted these policies and regulations are much more contributory.
remember how the principal had to confront a madman armed with this ‘horrible assault weapon’ with just her bare hands? THERE’S the real crime
‘... because it is a military weapon unsuited for civilian use.”
Hmmm, I propose that a sciencitic research team take Ruger Ranch Rifle (which shoots the same .223 cartridge as does the AR) and the AR and conduct an experiment to see if the AR is indeed more lethal.
The experiment will be as follows:
1. Line up four lawyers from Holder’s Just-Us department on a brick wall.
2. Use the AR to fire shots at the two lawyers on the left.
3. Use the Ranch Rifle to fire shots at the two lawyers on the right.
Evaluate the damage to the now dead lawyers.
I’m thinking that we will find that both weapons do their intended job of raising the IQ of the nation by reducing Just-Us Department lawyers, but that there is not an innate superiority to the one that looks “bad”.
“I’ll keep watching it just in case.”
Those things sometimes get up and wreak havoc, depending on their mood.
Now and again they get angry over too much oil and then go off the deep end.
You’d better hire the neighborhood Progressive to keep an eye on it, twenty-four hours a day, lest it get away, or, surrender it to the nearest gun-control-advocate government official; they’re the only ones who can be responsible with it.
:-)
IMHO
Shouldn’t they instead be suing the drug manufacturer who sold the medications he was on?
Exactly, the biggest single expense of creating/designing/producing a new small plane is insurance!
Funny!
Will pass on to one of my lawyers.......a liberal!
