We liked Amsterdam, a few good tourist sites. Anne Frank, the canals and more. Took a nice day trip to very clean small villages outside of the city. I’d go back.

I’ve never found the Alamo anything but inspiring. We haven’t been there since we moved back East ... the last time must have been 2001, before Patrick was born.

Drove through midland one Friday night. Could see lights on at a football stadium. The streets were empty.

Hey, I like the sound of that! I like to go to the local Hof Fest, so I’m thinking the whole town being like that would be fun.

I just watched that miniseries a couple of weeks ago on Netflix, so it must’ve planted a thought in my head. I should re-read the book, it’s been 20 years.

Some of the tourists who wrote the reviews must be brain damaged or just stupid. “ Stonehenge was a pile of rocks” duh. And a prehistoric astronomic observatory. No wonder at how Neolithic man could move, shape and pile those “ rocks”? Idiot.
Venice. Tourist areas ? Sure. Walk out of the tourist areas, amazing old Palazos. The Arsenal of Venice. The Doges palace. The Quadriga from Constantinople. More idiots.
People like that should stick to Disney world or stay home.

Anyone thinks Paris worst city on earth just showed their list is not relevant much

Paris is an incredible city

My least favorite city....nowadays...not in say 1977

Orlando Florida....Sao Paulo Florida.....and just overwhelmed sprawl

I used to find Houston a bit much...I prefer Dallas

Snobbiest City....

.toss up.....Boston or DC....edge Boston.... I’m talking cities...not enclaves like Beverly Hills or Rancho Santa Fe

Freakist big city in West;

Portland...... San Fran...right behind

freakiest in South......Asheville NC....A TUNA MECCA without peer

Most unique city...and great food....New Orleans....but be careful...its like second home for me....but dangeeeerous!.....no lie

Best glitzy city..... besides Vegas which I find tacky...Dallas baby....

Best beautiful women cities:

Again Dallas.....

Miami......Lincoln road whiplash....my wife’s loves to do her bikini time on Miami Beach...the Sagamore or W

Los Angeles...the finer parts......no question...it is LA

surprise beauty towns.....Salt Lake city......Washington DC....Minneapolis....

USED TO BE ON LIST.....Atlanta.....

Hipster meccas......Nashville.....Denver....Austin....
Densest grouping of babes I ever saw in my many years overseas was these slots

The rich area of Caracas on Friday nite in 1989

Capetown....again Friday nite

Stockholm airport waiting for SAS flight to Rio

Rome.....good lord.....wow

Melbourne at night in the party district....back then a kind southern USA lad could write his ticket...Aussie gals were not used to chivalry...in those days

Lists are fun..

I missed the Ukraine and the Baltic and Croatia and Budapest....all nice hunting grounds

From link:

“...Iyer quotes offers a nice summation: “The Brain — is wider than the Sky.” Iyer uses a fluid blend of argument and anecdote to make a persuasive and eloquent case that contemplating internal landscapes can be just as rich an experience as traveling through external ones. The fact that he has traveled to some of the world’s most obscure corners only strengthens his credibility as a defender of stillness.”
