Am I the only one that sees it this way?

It all depends on the reason Rush was making that statement.

The United State is supposed to be the great nation of the free so was Rush griping because the ChiComs were doing well or was he saying that the leader ship of the U.S were holding it back?

I would suggest it was the latter, but since there is no explanation how are we to know..

You are firing on all cylinders today: perhaps you should ask the government to mandate a living wage? Like you are asking the government to mandate the price level of products?

Off shoring is the result of the lack of free trade, so your premise is bogus, ergo your conclusion is flawed. If Trade is actually free and both parties are treated theby the same standard at both ends, then off shoring is not necessary.

“Am I the only one that sees it this way?”

Probably so...

14 years ago our economy by the same measure was 3X China’s.

Our country has been in decline for a number of decades. When you look to correlate other measures of growth with this decline, what you also find is a decline in the birth rates.

This is not specific to the US alone.

It is happening throughout all of the modern western liberal democracies.

This is why investors look to emerging markets now for growth.

Lastly, it has nothing to do with free trade. The trade aspect (imbalances) is a symptom and not the cause of the disease.

To simplify the problem to it’s basic understandable form, you can state it by saying that all the western democracies gave up growth in favor of bigger governments to support welfare states. They also, at the same time, and as a result of the welfare states they created, have been resting comfortably on the efforts made by generations now dead and gone, and have done nothing for themselves.

In other words, they are spending their inheritances like drunken sailors and will soon realize that they have awoken from their stupor in the gutter.

Again.....this has nothing to do with fair or free trade.

Bottom line, almost no consumer electronics are made in the USA. Completely gutted.

So what percent of a manufactured goods retail unit price goes towards labor on average? Do you know?

I know most of the people working factory jobs retrained in nuclear physics, became doctors or started multi-million dollar businesses so it all worked out for the good.

As I found out the hard way, the average life of a small company controller is 18-24 months. I’m now in the public sector, coming up on five years. Won’t go back, I learned how John Galt felt working for Taggart Transcontinental. I now have the time and flexibility to enjoy my family and other pursuits.

It’s amazing how quick it all went.

I can look at toys from 1980 and see “Made in Pawtucket, Rhode Island” or Akron or Massachusetts, and then look at the ones made in 1988 and they are all made in Japan, China, Taiwan and the Philippians. Another 10 and they are all now just made in China.

Put 100 of you in a room and we’ll get 101 opinions on the matter,

That is right, although the scripture is worded a little different I have the feeling that it was this very thing that caused the fall of the tower of babel.

On that point Rush the Entertainer does a better job than 95% of our political leaders.

If you can’t hire then the prevailing wage offered is too low.

Right, why would any one want to work if they can steal more than what the job pays from the taxpayers by not working?

As I said, which one do you want to use?

New International Version
There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor?

New Living Translation
God alone, who gave the law, is the Judge. He alone has the power to save or to destroy. So what right do you have to judge your neighbor?

English Standard Version
There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor?

New American Standard Bible
There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the One who is able to save and to destroy; but who are you who judge your neighbor?

King James Bible
There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?

Holman Christian Standard Bible
There is one lawgiver and judge who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor?

International Standard Version
There is only one Lawgiver and Judge—the one who can save and destroy. So who are you to judge your neighbor?

NET Bible
But there is only one who is lawgiver and judge—the one who is able to save and destroy. On the other hand, who are you to judge your neighbor?

Aramaic Bible in Plain English
One is he who lays down The Written Law and judgment, who is able to give life and to destroy. Who are you who are judging your neighbor?

GOD’S WORD® Translation
There is only one teacher and judge. He is able to save or destroy you. So who are you to judge your neighbor?

Jubilee Bible 2000
There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou to judge another?

King James 2000 Bible
There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who are you that judge another?

American King James Version
There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who are you that judge another?

American Standard Version
One only is the lawgiver and judge, even he who is able to save and to destroy: but who art thou that judgest thy neighbor?

Douay-Rheims Bible
There is one lawgiver, and judge, that is able to destroy and to deliver.

Darby Bible Translation
One is the lawgiver and judge, who is able to save and to destroy: but who art *thou* who judgest thy neighbour?

English Revised Version
One only is the lawgiver and judge, even he who is able to save and to destroy: but who art thou that judgest thy neighbour?

Webster’s Bible Translation
There is one lawgiver, who is able to save, and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?

Weymouth New Testament
The only real Lawgiver and Judge is He who is able to save or to destroy. Who are you to sit in judgement on your fellow man?

World English Bible
Only one is the lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge another?

one is the lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy; thou — who art thou that dost judge the other?

“tower of babel”

Which was never stated in the Bible by name. It was made up in later translations. See, everyone thinks they know something that isn’t even true. What I just said may not be true.

Thanks for the thread, the last time I discussed this I felt like the lone ranger surrounded by free traitor zombies. Free trade is great in theory until you actually see it in action. I remember during the early 80’s the Japanese bypassing their quota of cars coming into the country by taking the back seats out and getting them through as trucks. They moved in and devastated my state. China is scheduled to have a bigger Navy than us in 6 years time. They already have nearly double the submarines. Americans better wake up pretty quick. They are going to come for us eventually, make no mistake about it.
