The two most recent Heisman winners from Texas are turning out to be massive NFL busts — in the Ryan Leaf category.

Agreed. He’s handling his backup role better than the media expected. They need to cook up some controversy so they can see if they can rile him up a bit.

Way too early to claim that. Manziel is doing what top rookie QB's USED to do before we started expecting hall of fame numbers in their rookie year. He is sitting on the sidelines and learning. Many of the greatest have done this. Do you remember who Brett Favre's backup was? Bernie Kosar sat behind Gary Danielson until he got hurt (probably a better comparison).

The Browns are 7-4. Don't rush a kid if you don't need to.

OMG! The horror!

Can we bring back the stocks and let the village throw vegetable at him?

What a villain!

Good points all around. I think the Aaron Rodgers scenario that you alluded to is the best example of what stated.

What about RG3? In your opinion, would it have better if he had a few years to get familiar with the systems?

Yes. I believe so. RG3 was so unique and they gave up so much to get him that I can understand the pressure to throw him right out there. He did well too. But now he's got an uphill climb to salvage his career. So I suppose the move wasn't in his or the team's long-term best interest.

I'm all for sitting a young QB his first year whenever you can. At least if you're not looking at an abysmal season anyway and you want him to get game reps. Otherwise, sitting him is the old-school way to do it.

I understand that Cleveland wants to rename the team the Cleveland Michael Browns in honor of the “Gentle Giant.” /sarc
