Insects: The food of the future ( The UN wants us to eat bugs)

Bugs reduce pollution, increase nutrition, and should seriously be considered as a food source: This is according to a UN report with University of Copenhagen contribitions by Victor Yakimov

What is nutritious, delicious, and has six legs? If we could collectively get over our disgust at the six legged critters, insects could become a staple of the human diet, along with fish, and other kinds of meat, a new UN report argues.

The Food and Agriculture organisation FAO hailed members of the insect world as an under-utilised resource, in the report which was released this Monday. By 2050, world population is slated to reach 9 billion, arable land is shrinking due to climate change, and oceans are increasingly overfished. Incorporating bugs into our diet could alleviate some of those problems, the report argues.

"Food we are currently consuming is artificially cheap. Negative environmental externalities aren't factored into food prices, and farm subsidies artificially lower prices. We are facing a crisis; if the price of meat was increased to reflect its true costs, people would be forced to consider alternative options.", says Afton Halloran, one of the paper's coauthors, a UCPH alumnus to the University Post.

Oh no no no. Bugs are for, you know, the little people. Like you.

But not for the UN herr elite. They've done their duty to mother gaia by making YOU eat bugs.

My second real job was at Hudson’s candy counter at Genessee Valley mall in Flint, Michigan. We sold chocolate-covered crickets, grasshoppers and ants. The entire time I was there none of the boxes moved off the shelf. I dusted them regularly.

Soylent Maggot.

Yum, yum.

But let’s be generous and let UN officials demonstrate this new life-style themselves. Let them be the first to have a steady diet of grilled maggots. Or would that be encouraging cannibalism?

>>I thought that northern lands become more productive at that point?<<

But also, it is less productive.

It is only a function of our culture that the consumption of insects is considered disgusting. Also, what we consider a delicacy in the U.S. would be considered disgusting in a different culture. Pork, shellfish (i.e. lobster) and veal are good examples of this.

Otherwise, insects are perfectly fit for human consumption and probably quite nutritious as well.

Jesus didn’t need to show his dedication to non-material things by fasting and so forth, since being He required no saving like the rest of us. I think the Pharisees used this to call him a glutton on at least one occasion.

Various passage in Leviticus, laid down at least 1000 years before Jesus who spoke of The Law many times. I suspect he knew it quite well.

Nothing has changed with regard to kashrus.

People already eat bugs in the form of lobster, crabs, clams, crawfish, etc, etc.

You’d have a riot on your hands if UN delegates had to eat the creepy-crawlies (that they want us to eat) that infest NYC.

But I’d accept making them eat public school lunches until then.

Great point! Folks will pay big bucks for well-prepared sea-bugs and mud-bugs!

Yup. SAS training requires you to eat worms and bugs to pass the course. Of course, these UN idiots can kiss my ass.

As long as it’s understood that Jesus was a Pharisee.

This nonsense has been pushed by the enviro-nuts since the ‘70’s or even earlier.

I remember various presentations at school, and movies like “The Hellstrom Chronicles” being all de riguer.

SSDD, just a new crop of fools to indoctrinate.

I don’t think Jesus was part of that order. They just called him Rabbi. St. Paul was a Pharisee, however.
