Whoopi Goldberg is rising to Bill Cosby's defense as claims he raped more than a dozen women begin to mount. The View star expressed skepticism today about allegations by Barbara Bowman that the 77-year-old comedian drugged and sexually assaulted her in 1985. Ms Bowman said that she went to a lawyer, who laughed at her when she tried to say that Cosby had sexually assaulted her multiple times when she was an aspiring actress and model. Goldberg asked why Ms Bowman didn't go to the authorities for proof that she was raped.

evidence is what is needed to convict, not numbers

if numbers is all it took, every leftist in America would be accusing Ted Cruz and Limbaugh and others of heinous acts daily

Honestly, anyone can make an allegation.

You’re the I declaring the seriousness of the charge to be good enough.

Didn’t say he should be convicted, but that doesn’t mean that I am not allowed to have an opinion and if any man is accused by 15 different women of having raped them, then I will assume he is a rapist.

Anyone can have an opinion. I think his neighbors should keep eyes or cameras on their kids while they play in the yard, personally

More like “number of accusers” and plausibility.

Like I said, why don’t you try to get me banned? If I’m a leftist, shouldn’t you be summoning the moderators and get me banned?

Whoopi is too ugly to worry about being raped. She probably prays to get raped.

If I was on a jury and all I had to go on was unsubstantiated claims I would be pondering “reasonable doubt”.

On the other hand, if my daughter was invited to stay overnight at Cosby’s house, it would be over my dead body.

I don’t think Hannibal Burress was part of any conspiracy. He wasn’t doing an HBO special; he was trying out new material in a small club with maybe 50 people there. One of the audience members happened to record it on his phone.

I agree with you totally.

I wish all FReepers understood that the current Cosby buzz is the result of an October 16th joke at Philly's Trocadero.

However, it wasn't new material. It's been in his act according to Burress. This time it was in Cosby's hometown and Burress got attention.

Okay. I actually saw him do a set about a year ago and he didn’t mention it. It was a shorter set, though.

A source claiming he made the same joke in Detroit several weeks before Philly. I don't know where "So am I not supposed to laugh at a Theo joke because the pudding rapist set it up?" came from. I'd have to listen to the Philly set again.

"[Buress] noted that he had been performing the bit about Cosby "off and on for six months" before it went viral." Warning: HuffPo. "It's just information that's out there," Buress said.

. . . and somewhere around 342 other sites or so about Buress having performed the joke for some time without getting the attention he received from his Philly performance, give or take 500 or 5,000 sites.

Buress during Philly set on October 16: "If you didn’t know about it, trust me. You leave here and google ‘Bill Cosby rape.’ It’s not funny." You (and I) be's right. T'weren't the election.

Apparently in Whoopi's mind, plain old 'rape' only involves a thirteen year-old girl, a powerful 40-year old man, a photo session in the private home of Jack Nicholson during which the man convinces the girl to pose topless, alcohol, a quaalude, and forced anal intercourse.

'Rape-rape' is something different. I hate rape-rape.
