... With every week that passes featuring mediocre players taking the field for NFL teams, and various clubs showing no ability to stop the pass, the reasoning for the NFL's collective snub of Sam becomes more and more clear:
Michael Sam is not on an active roster today because he is openly gay...

Definitely too slow. There were post snap shots circulated at one point. 21 players had moved. One was still in his stance...
This guy’s full of nonsense, but his writing “niche” is, by his own website “one of the world’s preeminent experts on sexuality and sports.” In other words, Sam being cut because of a lack of NFL level talent leaves Zeigler nothing to write about or to “advance the cause.” So, I’m not surprised he’s continuing to wave the bloody flag and scream homophobia where none exists.
Sam was a good college player who just doesn’t have the skills to play at the NFL level. It’s just as simple as that. After his bad performance at the NFL Combine, he’s luck to have been drafted at all. And both the Rams and the Cowboys gave him plenty of opportunity to make the team.
He can’t get a good look at their buns if he’s in front of them now, can he?
Fixed.
I didn’t check for the usual dingbats who post anti-NFL screed in these topics.
Uh, Tim Tebow was the BEST player in all of College Football (he won the Heisman and a national title) and HE hasn’t been able to “cut it” in the NFL.
So, exactly what makes this dumba$$ think that Sam should be playing in the NFL?!?!
He is too small and too slow, and he brings a carnival-train sized load of “baggage” to go with his slowness and diminished size. Hell, there have been world class, NFL-proven players who were dropped from teams because of their baggage, so there is no guarantee to play in the NFL, even if you are of the newly “protected class” known as LGBT!
Here is what he should have done: stayed in the closet. That way, he would have failed on his own, which is what he would have done.
The NFL is to a large degree, a meritocracy. If you can’t do it in practice, you won’t play. And if you do get on the field and don’t produce, you won’t be on the team. There are some exceptions, but bottom line is making money, and if you can’t attract fans by winning or playing good football, you won’t make money.
If they were looking to attract 2% of a population that probably derides most sports anyway, it isn’t a good business model, when you are sure to alienate a larger population that has no interest in watching someone play simply because that player enjoys having other men insert sexual organs into other men.
It is pretty simple.
He decided to openly play the homosexual card, because it gives him an excuse for failure. His choice.
A Brian Urlacher would have been welcomed even if he took it up the butt before every game.
Yeesh. This so tiresome.
EVERY NFL team wants to field a winner.
All that matters is can the guy PLAY?
So many mid-level picks have shined, like Tom Brady, a SIXTH rounder.
Some number ones have bombed, like Ryan Leaf.
A great college career can mean something, or absolutely nothing.
Hell, there are HIGH SCHOOL graduates playing at the NFL level.
The rules do favor offense and passing, no doubt. That change has progressed since 1978. But not all is lost. The San Diego Chargers scored zero, yea that’s right, 0 point agains the Miami Dolphins this past weekend. At least one team stopped the pass. ;-)
Why is every player so bulked up when its all down to timing?
Read the same type of irrational statements about Tebow when he was cut.
Yep...big difference between college and pros. I remember when the Giants took Ron Dayne (RB, WIS) in the first round in the 2000 draft: I hated the pick. From watching him in games and on tape, I thought that for a big guy he never really ran over people, always juking and dodging tacklers. I would have expected more of an Earl Campbell type, but this guy was one-dimensional and did not take tacklers on. But, he might still have the high school discus and shot put records in the state of New Jersey.
True but not what I was saying.
