The Days Inn Penn State had an unexpected late check-in early Friday morning. A deer found its way into the downtown State College hotel by entering through the automatic doors by the lobby off South Pugh Street, police said. According to State College police, at about 3:45 a.m., the deer entered the building and became trapped in the bathroom hallway of the adjoining Mad Mex restaurant. Surveillance video showed the deer sprinting past the check-in counter as an employee watched. Pennsylvania Game Commission officers were called to handle the animal, police said. After attempting to tranquilize the deer but failing, officers were forced to dispatch the deer. No damage to the properties was reported, police said.
You never know. He was a multi-tasker...
If one looks harder enough, he can always find some piquaint dollop of worth in an ostensibly worth-free posting.
I'm just in a bad mood today after reading a thread much earlier about how the Dems will probably steal the Colorado Senate race by massive fraudulent mail-in votes.
I gonna go make myself a drink now...
My pal lives in No. Connecticut, and his vegetable garden was getting ravaged. It was about 50’ x 40’, and he put a 6’high fence around it. The only difference it made, was the deer would hop the fence, and trash the garden, before they could hop out. His daughter contracted Lyme disease, last year, and his wife’s car was totaled, two years before that, from hitting one of those critters.
I sense that a tipping point was reached, even the PETA types in the area have chosen to remain low key about herd reduction. Not only are archers OK, but in some areas, even hunting with rifles (strictly controlled) is now allowed for six weeks, a year!
I was just there in August. Unfortunately, they only go through there at one time of the year when the figs are ripe on a stand of fig trees.
1. After that, did they go into lockdown and close all the schools?
2. Was it a gun-free zone?
3. Were the officials the same race as the deer?
4. Do the guests have to be quarantined now?
(I wonder if I'm watching too much news...)
It’s the fault of the hotel for building it’s vestibule right on an old elephant trail. They say an “elephant never forgets” and these beasts are not going to be separated from their favorite fruit!
I’ve seen other photos where the staff just stands back and watches them pass. I’d be hiding in a closet, to be sure. LOL.
It doesn't seem to be a problem for the elephants, and it makes for great photos for their sales brochure!
Our guides did tell us of stories of local villages, where a new village is in their path and they have to do something like shoot a baby elephant to dissuade them from using their original path. The elephants do remember something like that for decades hence, so it works.
