Why not split the difference and move the clocks back only a half hour in the fall and leave it there for good?

Then it won’t be too dark too long int eh morning and so light out so late at night, or something like that.

“Daylight saving time is when they go to school in the dark.”

If we kept it year round. Just now, as the mornings are getting dark, we switch back to standard time and the sun rises and sets an hour earlier. That is the main justification for the current system, and... It actually does work. Sunrise will switch back to just after 6AM next week. It will, however, get dark at 4:30. That means most kids will go to school after sunrise and arrive home before sunset.

I’m not commenting on whether I like it or not. It’s just the main reason DST exists and why we switch back to standard time in the winter. Personally, I’d like DST all year. It gives me more time after work with sunlight. I don’t live on a farm and don’t have the luxury of setting my own daily schedule.

I probably misunderstood you, yes if it stayed like it is now the kids would be going to school in the dark.

I guess D.S.T is ok for some but personally I have always hated it.

The day begins later in the western part of the Mountain Time zone. Combine that with a range of mountains on the east side of the valley, the sun has to climb quite a bit into the sky to peek over the tops of the hills. So yes, the sun did rise around 10. Which meant that the first hour of class in Jr High was in the dark.

I say keep the clocks steady and n change. Start whenever.

Schools and business can adjust their schedules as they need daylight or not.

I like sun later in the evening and I realize others prefer the morning.

Let the congress vote and do away with the changes. I’ll live with the results.

But now I’m retired and I could care less. Spring forward 6 hours and fall back 4. I don’t care.

Braggart! lol

Hopefully, I'll be joining the ranks in 2-3 years. By then, at least I'll have the flexibility to go Johnny Paycheck if the job turns into a drag.

It'll be tough, because with today's flex schedules and 5 weeks of vacation every year, I can do a couple of extended road trips. For me, there's nothing better than visiting wineries at my leisure.

Twice a year, all the curmudgeons come out to piss and moan about the "inconvenience" of changing their clocks an hour this way or that. They really annoy me.

If it was up to me, I'd make everybody adjust their clocks every month of the year - 10 minutes at a time.

I think it's a good thing to get off the couch once in a while and move about the house, changing the time on the microwave oven, the DVD player, the clock in the bedroom, etc.

While you're at it, why don't you take the dog out for a decent walk instead of just letting it out in the yard? Do it around sunset and check out the neighborhood. Observe what phase the moon is in. Does anybody pay attention to the moon these days?

Go ahead, I dare you. Without consulting the Farmer's Almanac or doing a Google search, go ahead and tell me what phase the moon is in. Is it waxing or waning? Do you even know what waxing and waning means?

Where's the Big Dipper. Could you point it out to me?

What about Polaris (a/k/a the North Star)?

Back in late June and early July, your backyard was probably full of fireflies. Did you even notice?

This time of year, your neighbors most likely have pumpkins on their doorsteps and other Halloween paraphernalia about their yards. Go out there and take a look at is. And stop complaining about having to get up and change your clocks.

I don't, I have servants for that menial task.

I agree, I don’t like it getting dark so early.
