If we're going to leave it one one standard, how about leaving it on Standard time? That way, the sun will be directly overhead at noon, like it's supposed to be?

Or, we could stay on standard time for the entire year.

...the sun only came up once a week! And then only if it wanted to...

Do you like the idea of sunrise occurring around 10:00 am?

“But does it really save energy, as that was a key reason to do this????”

I doubt it. You use more electricity in the winter, and more air conditioning in the summer in hotter climates.

I hate DST. I like to have it dark earlier at night.

Arizona stays on standard time year round. Don’t know about any other states.

Arizona often has 110°+ days in the summer. They don't want the extra hour of sunlight after work. They would rather have an earlier sunset so they can enjoy cooler temperatures in the evening.

But the real headache with switching is what we have to do for hospital computer systems to deal with there being two 1:30 AMs on the same day. That’s a real issue. The “spring forward” isn’t too bad because from the computer’s point of view, it’s just that nothing happens from 2:00 - 3:00 AM. But the “fall back” is an entirely different story. If a patient arrives in the Emergency Department at 1:30 AM, which 1:30 was it?!

I think having 2 1:30 am's in one day isn't that bad. The bar closing time in Texas is 2:00 am. At 2:00 am it is suddenly 1:00 am again and the bars remain open for another hour!

Hawaii also does not have daylight savings time and and it was a bummer when I left for CA and had to recalibrate ( actually for a lot of things.)

Hawaii is so far south that daylight savings time isn't of much benefit. The closer one is to the equator, the less seasonal variation in the length of sunlight there is during the day.

Yes. It would make me feel like I'm not such a slug to get out of bed hours before sunrise.

I could be wrong but I think DST was invented by Ben Franklin.

I’d rather keep Standard Time year round, like Hawaii.

Hawaii is the only state in the tropics which means the length of sunlight varies less during the year.

“The cows don’t like it ...”

Neither do the farmers, because hay gets dry enough to bale about supper and chore time. *sigh*

And it’s dark when I go to work almost year round except for a few weeks in June and July. Miss those early morning sunrises.

I thought it had something to do with farming or harvest.>>>>>

It was first tried In 1918 to conserve energy and lasted seven months and was defeated, no one liked it , and tried again under Roosevelt again no one liked it, from what I heard the farmers hated it.

It was supposed to save energy which is just a big farce.

This last go around started in about 1974, since then the little Hitler`s have kept most of the states in line.
