“Daylight saving time is when they go to school in the dark.”
If we kept it year round. Just now, as the mornings are getting dark, we switch back to standard time and the sun rises and sets an hour earlier. That is the main justification for the current system, and... It actually does work. Sunrise will switch back to just after 6AM next week. It will, however, get dark at 4:30. That means most kids will go to school after sunrise and arrive home before sunset.
I’m not commenting on whether I like it or not. It’s just the main reason DST exists and why we switch back to standard time in the winter. Personally, I’d like DST all year. It gives me more time after work with sunlight. I don’t live on a farm and don’t have the luxury of setting my own daily schedule.

I probably misunderstood you, yes if it stayed like it is now the kids would be going to school in the dark.
I guess D.S.T is ok for some but personally I have always hated it.
