If the Republicans win the Senate...
Economist ^ | 10-18-2014

Until now, Barack Obama has always had a Democratic Senate to block proposals passed by the House. If that buffer disappears, he will have to sign or veto every bill that a Republican Congress sends him. The result may be political paralysis, accelerating the greying of the president’s hair and alarming allies worldwide. Or it may be that the two sides find common ground and pass some sensible measures.

Pessimists sigh that the parties are too polarised to agree on anything. Plenty of Republicans think Mr Obama is a menace whom patriots must thwart and resist. Many Democrats believe there is no point in trying to cut deals with Republicans. Instead, they want Mr Obama to spend his last two years in office ignoring Congress and using executive orders and federal regulations to pursue progressive goals, such as curbing greenhouse-gas emissions, shielding illegal migrants from deportation (and even closing the Guantánamo Bay prison for terrorist suspects, if press reports are true: see Lexington). Under this scenario, no significant laws will be passed until after the presidential election in 2016.

lol. Not a D**N thing will change. This is a blip in the long game. If the Dims with the Senate not a D**N thing will change.

2016 is when the important Elections begin. Talk to me in 20 years and we’ll see where the long game took us.

"Pessimists sigh that the parties are too polarised to agree on anything."

To be optimistic is impossible if anyone has been observing in the last 30 years, the evidence is overwhelming, the two parties are one in the same, the only difference I can point to is the democrats want communism now and republicans prefer to go at a slower pace, you know make it more palatable, so as to increase acceptance and reduce resistance. IMO!

"If the republicans win the Senate . . . "

They will sit on their butts, accomplish absolutely nothing, whine, cry, watch Dear Leader walk over them, ignore them, continue to do Executive Orders and make up laws as he goes. By summer 2016, Dear Leader will come up with something to declare Martial Law, put Amerika under a dictatorship, and the RINOs will still be sitting on their butts, saying "hey, hey, hey, you can't do that. That's not legal. We will sue. We will, we will, we will . . . do absolutely nothing."

I have in my lifetime never seen a political party be as worthless as the whining, useless republican party of worthless RINOs sit on their worthless butts and accomplish absolutely NOTHING!!!

Anything less than 55 seats will be a failure in my book. 51 will spark bets on who the next Jim Jeffords will be. Demand a total recount and find those who voted twice. Publicly expose them so others won’t try it in 16’. They WILL try to steal a couple.

If it wasn’t for judges and especially Supreme Court, I could care less if the Senate is Republicans. They will just screw it up like last time and get defeated in 2016 anyways. The Senate is the worst.

Hint, he means amnesty.

You are correct about the money, which is why the democratic voters vote democrat. Without unions, does anyone seriously think the business owners would not ALL have sweat shops today??? I know unions are just as evil as the business owners so don’t even go there.

As has been said by the One who collect tythes from every nation, “...it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

If the GOP gets to 51, an “independent” like Angus King will seek to caucus with the R’s. If it’s 50-50, King can write his own ticket. If it’s 51, I hope McConnell tells him to stuff it.
