Toronto Police shoot and kill a pitbull after batons are not enough to release its ‘lock-jaw grip’ from shih tzu
I've heard that many times.
Total BS.
Now if one breeds a Pit Bull Terrier or an American Stafford-shire Terrier to a Gila Monster, then on just has to wait until sundown and it’ll release its grip.
I want to see the breeding record before I put any credence to this report.

Not going to complain about THIS “Coop shoots Dog” Story.
If the story is factual the cop was 10000% justified in blasting away that dog.
However, it's a myth that pit bulls have locking jaws.
Grab both hind legs and pull. Even a bull dog will turn loose usually.
Toronto Community Housing Corp. I assume this is government housing. Does the story mention race?

But what about the shih tzu? At least the Pit Bull has
worth for something, that shih tzu is plain worthless.
They are like muslims. they walk up all happy and wagging

Pit Bulls and muzzies. I don’t trust either one. I heard some of each are moderates but it’s hard to tell which is which.

Pit bulls are the Dogs of Peace.
You won’t find me constantly defending or constantly attacking police officers who shoot dogs (or anything else). It takes a rather mindless person to fall into either of those categorical traps. But can we be a little more careful here and say this animal was an “alleged” pitbull? An animal that has been unscrupulously bred and trained to become (or abused into becoming) aggressive, vicious, a fighting dog, etc., is not representative of the breed. A hellhound can be produced from any breed. It doesn’t mean the entire breed is bad.
The officer was probably administering body blows with the baton. Wrong. Strike the snout. Crushing or bloodying the nasal passages will prevent the dog from breathing and they will release.
After they shoot the obviously uncontrolled pit bull, they should whip the owner in a public square like they do in Singapore. There are no pit bulls biting anyone in Singapore.
You can make a pitbull let go by blowing in his ear.
The large dog had the small dog in it’s mouth for an extended time. Long enough for the police to be called and to arrive. The small dog was not killed and is recuperating, no information on the extent of its injuries, if any, is available at this time. Keep in mind, the large dog had ample time if it had wanted to kill the smaller dog to do it, one shake would have accomplished it.
I spent enough time on posts to this article last night and have no wish to repeat them to the closed minded blood thirsty fanatics here today. My comments on the article are posted under the name northern_sentinel, if anyone is interested in seeing them.
A pit locked on to a little kid’s leg, on the sidewalk, in front of our house, while we were watching football, on TV. My room mate ran into the kitchen, pulled the biggest knife, out of the drawer, hurried outside, and plunged the blade deep into the pit’s neck. It was a gruesome scene, but one of the responding EMTs told my pal that he probably saved that kid’s life.
He was a good dog. He was going to enroll in Obedience School next semester and eventually become a therapy dog. Tragic.
All pitbulls should be shot on sight. All pitbull owners should be imprisoned without trial.
Typically a solution to the pitbull grip is a squirt of pepper spray right up its nose. Hitting it with objects just aggravates it.
