U.S. Soccer is standing by its decision to allow goalkeeper Hope Solo to continue to play while she faces domestic violence charges.
Solo is charged with two misdemeanor counts of fourth-degree domestic violence assault in Washington state stemming from a June 21 altercation with her sister-in-law and 17-year-old nephew at a family gathering.

According to the court documents in the abuse case, Solo's 17-year-old nephew told police Solo was upset and appeared to have been drinking when she arrived at a family gathering. Following an argument, she and her nephew got into a fistfight, according to court documents.
When the boy's mother tried to break up the confrontation, Solo punched her in the face, the documents said. The report also said that the nephew broke a broom over Solo's head and pointed a broken BB gun at her to try to get her to leave.

Solo married former Seattle Seahawks tight end Jerramy Stevens in 2012. He was arrested just before their wedding for investigation of assault after a disturbance involving Solo, but he was not charged. Maybrown also represented Stevens in that case.

a Ray Rice with 20 million in the bank and 20 million more coming simply cannot be rationally compared with some soccer gal with 218.73 in her little bank account with $250.00 in checks “out” floating on that balance!
One thing MOST young girls have in common is they are penniless at all times and therefore vulnerable. Soccer is her ONLY WAY OUT to become self supporting and reduce her vulnerability. Ray has already climbed the mountain and is on the tip top of the peak, financially.
So, I’m not saying she should get off scot free. Whatever happens to her in “the system” should be allowed to happen. I’m just saying a young girl like her with her meager financial clout should be allowed to play...........for now..........it’s that simple, to me. Like you say, it is one case at a time.

............some of these really good soccer gals get on these National Teams and become famous and then they make a lot of money....................thus, they get to a point like Ray Rice where they can hire lawyers to save their backsides when they do stupid things!
So, they get out of poverty and a young lady who rises above poverty is less vulnerable than one who is still mired in it.
