Sarah Palin has broken her silence over the family feud two weeks ago, saying she’s “proud” of her daughter for allegedly punching a man in the face during the Rumble in the Tundra.

Yep. Pols also regularly get books written on their own time while in office, and her first book more than paid for her legal debts.

She was rewarded for having quit one state job previously, and may have therefore thought she could overcome her second resignation more easily.

MA had a spate of GOP governors resigning early, starting with Bill Weld, and they could never overcome their loss of popularity within the state for that move.

But Palin’s resigning as guv probably burned more bridges within Alaska than nationally, and I think she could have overcome that if she had taken herself down a more serious (e.g., international policy) path since.

I think she may be among those Breitbart fans who has confused his warnings to conservatives that culture is upstream of politics. The solution is for pols to occasionally cross over into popular culture (e..g, appear on The View and with Jimmy Fallon), while not becoming part of the pop culture (e.g., appear in trashy reality shows).

That’s a good point.

I mean, I might question some of Bristol’s past moves (especially in the reality-tv field), but my gosh, she’s basically a good egg, who strongly defends her mom and her family, and writes/takes solidly conservative positions on her webpage which targets young folks. And, her coming to the defense of her brother, being pummelled by three dudes in a fight, is certainly a plus in my book (even though it apparently seems to give the vapors to certain pathetic, limp-wristed types, who unfortunately now even seem to populate much of the GOP).

And good grief, Bristol is head-and-shoulders above such worthless dregs as Ron and Patty Reagan.

Its okay for her daughter to punch the guy in the face.... but if he should punch her back .... well.... his life ends as he knows it because he hit a woman. And if he's in the NFL .... oh my gosh... its the end of the world.

It’s never acceptable to start a “20-person, knock-down-drag out, white trash, Redneck fight” in public; that is trashy unless there are unreported circumstances we don’t know about:

1 Did someone “touch” Bristol in an inappropriate manner?

2. Did someone hit her or a family member first?

Hey, I loved Sarah Palin before McCain ever picked her as his running mate in ‘08. I still love Sarah and her family, but, I think this “bad publicity” could have been avoided. Now, if anyone knows something about this situation that I don’t know, please share it with me.

Governor Rick Perry is a bought and sold member of the Karl Rove establishment and will have PLENTY of cover from them.

Governor Palin is not and did not.

Again.

Do a stitch of homework before you make judgments to write people off.

I have done lots of homework on the Karl Rove-recruited, mandatory HPV vaccine, Dream Act, TransTexasHighway crony Governor Rick Perry and have thus, written him off.

He is for sale. He is owned. Therefore he is protected by his owners.

Haven’t heard a media attack on Perry in weeks. 24-hour news cycle of the mug shot and its over. And yes, actually, I think he quite enjoyed the speech and mug shot ... BECAUSE he knew it was a dog and pony show and he would be protected.

Because. he. is. protected.

We’re still hearing madeup stories about Palin to this day because she is not protected by the Establishment of either party.

Research is your friend. Research outside the NY/DC media complex, which is controlled by the Establishment of both parties.

Actually, she didn’t set up a legal defense fund.

Her friends did, and they used the same advisors as those who set up the Clinton defense fund.

But that fund was attacked, too, and so shut down.

Yep.

You have not given a deep analysis yet.

Still waiting.

What do you know about her resignation?

What do you know about other legitimate resignations throughout history?

“But Palin’s resigning as guv probably burned more bridges within Alaska than nationally, and I think she could have overcome that if she had taken herself down a more serious (e.g., international policy) path since.”

Oh my goodness, PLEASE stop this false meme.

I created a whole website dedicated to debunking this meme. So I’ve done the work of gathering for you and GeorgiaGirl and whoever else needs the research.

All you have to do is spend some time reading the serious policy research she has done. For example, did you watch the speech and open-ended Q&A she gave in India in 2011? Or the speech and open-ended Q&A to Long Island business group a few years ago? Or her speech in Hong Kong?

I suggest looking them up. Actually, here’s the India speech: http://hrh40.wordpress.com/2011/03/19/sarah-palin-america-and-india-are-a-testament-to-the-positive-force-of-human-aspirations-india-india-today/

In the meantime, here you go:
http://hrh40.wordpress.com/palin-policy/

Just a general comment: I find it sad that even on free republic so many are so quick to accept false memes about Palin.

Rick Perry has the intestinal fortitude to stand up and fight. I would think you would be furious that the left wing is attacking him and trying to discredit him as they did Palin. He’s just not lying down and taking it.

Sarah Palin chose to move on and make millions of dollars while the iron was hot. I don’t even blame her for making a lot of money. But go ask the good citizens of Alaska who voted for her for Governor and expected her to represent them for four years how they feel.

Sarah Palin will never again seek higher office. She is now a political operative like Karl Rove. Its a lot more financially rewarding and you don’t have to stick your neck out. She’s a good force for the conservative cause but she’s not going to be President. Rick Perry might. Reports of his Rinoism are greatly exaggerated. :-)

Palin helped create and led a rebuilding of conservatism in America, Rick Perry hasn’t, for instance while Palin gave us Senator Ted Cruz, Perry tried to prevent him from happening.

You are still commenting on an event for which you. know. nothing.

And now you are surmising on an event for which you. know. no. facts.

“Anonymous sources quoted as saying” is all you have.

Here are the facts:

1. There was an incident at a party in Alaska.

2. The Palins were at the party.

3. The Palins were involved in some way.

4. There is a police investigation.

5. There have been no charges pressed.

6. There has been no photo or video evidence.

“Ted Cruz, Perry tried to prevent him from happening”

Two bulls in the same pasture are going to lock horns. They are the only two presidential candidates for 2016 that I am interested in. May the best man win the nomination and I’ll be happy to vote for either one of them.

I appreciate your research and support for the Governor, but three speeches do not equate to four years of serious policy work.

We can agree to disagree, but I believe she’d have been much better served in that capacity (or something of equally public gravitas) than as a reality TV show star and participant.

Wow.

I’m done debating you.

To say that Governor Palin is a political operative like Karl Rove reveals the depth of your profound ignorance.

Do. some. research. on. the. evil. nasty. that. is. Karl. Rove.

Here are some hints:

2000 SC primary slander about John McCain’s adopted Indian daughter on behalf of the Bush campaign

2010 Fox News comments the night O’Donnell legitimately won the Delaware GOP primary.

2012 Fox News commentary the night Romney predictably lost and lost big ... as did most of Karl Rove’s candidates after his spending 10s of millions of dollars.

No, ma’am.

You know NOTHING if you can type that Sarah Palin is just like Karl Rove.

BTW, if Governor Perry is such a standup fighter, how come he’s never won a legitimately challenging political race?

He inherited the job from Bush.

He really hasn’t ever had an opponent with a chance of winning.

Which is why he rarely, if ever has actually engaged in political debates.

Which is why he was less than stellar in the 2012 debates.

What has he stood up and fought for? Other than for his Texas cronies?

How come Rick Perry hasn’t cut and run yet?

Rick Perry probably isn't getting stuck with the total legal bill for the Texas fiasco.

Alaska law was pretty unique at the time for politicians who were being sued or charged for ethics violations. The accused had to pay for their own defense, and could not even use donated legal defense funds. Political opponents of Palin filed many bogus ethics complaints, all of which were defeated in court, but were costing the Palins over half a million. The Alaska ethics laws have since been changed.

You showed up here in 2009, during the flurry of bogus ethics charges, yet you claim not to be afflicted with PDS, while continuing the liberal PDS tirade about Palin "quitting", while pretending to know nothing about the circumstances or the reasons.

Either you really do have a "very shallow discernment factor” or you are being very dishonest.
