We all usually keep forgetting that when SHTF things will be different in many ways.
We talk about lack of food, clean water, coffee, or simply lack of hygiene. And we say that people gonna die because of that and because of lots of violence. Based on my experience, all above is correct, but we also usually forget one simple fact: pressure!
Guy from my street worked before SHTF as a computer technician. Those years here were time when computers were started to be widely used in big companies. He was something like famous in that field, so he had good life, nice home, car, family and everything else.

Many people will become ‘lost’ due to a condition call Normalcy Bias. It occurence when people I face by a traumatic situation something so dramatic that the person has no point of reference, no past experiences to rely on to base judgement calls on. Often the event seems so surreal that the person only way of dealing with it is to decide that what they see has or is happening is not real and as to them if it isn’t real then there is no need to do anything that or someone will be along shortly to set things right.
Two good articles on normalcy bias are here:

Gotta watch the “trust credit”.
Please raise your hand if you acknowledge you have had normalcy bias impact you since January 2009... My arm is getting tired...
If truckers go on strike, we have major problems.
Supermarkets keep limited stocks on hand, generally they, need to be re-supplied every three days,
so that prices reflect their re-stock prices, especially in riseing prices.
No chlorine to the water treatment plant,.. no clean water.
No fuel for the car for travel to safety or to family / community, nor fuel for generators
No electricity for the water pumps or the pumps to the water treatment plant, sewage backs up, etc.
The time to prepare is now ,.. not in the moment of crisis.
Remember , less than 10% of the population has reserves, or are even thinking of being prepared.
When my wonderful 35 year old daughter is asked in conversations about her survival plan she simply states that she only has to figure out how to make the 5 minute walk to her dad’s place from her place to where survival is assured! I am so proud of her. :) (I knew she moved there for a reason!). My wife on the other hand has a different approach. She has her “three day rule”. She will attempt to survive for three days in any survival situation but after that she wants me to just leave her under her favorite shade tree to go with God. I am then allowed to free the cave man in me to pursue any survival scenario I choose. At least we have a plan and I am actually good with it.
Yes that is excellent! I know her and when she told me that, my worries ended. When SHTF, I know where you live, that you have plenty and that you have to sleep, then I'll take what I need.
Try that crap where we live and you will find yourself flat on your back with smoking holes in your chest.
Rough Crowd,,,
What is your 35 year old daughter going to do when her Dad is gone? Geez....
I have a family member who can’t decide what flavor birthday cake they want. One tiny thing out of the norm and it’s total meltdown. Drives me nuts in easy times so can’t imagine when things hit the fan.
Come on now, she thinks I am going to live forever. :)
Good one. You won’t have to take, I will give. Of course you have to pass the test.......
I hope we are all just having some fun with this.
I know, I have a 37 year old daughter that thinks the same thing. Good luck to us both!
I would suggest to every prepper who can to go camping in a tent for a week, it would be great experience.
I have things set up that I can convert to survival living with a bit of work. The toughest thing will be ammo. The supply chain on that isn’t small and it takes a bit of work to Mame it from scratch. Hopefully any aggressors shoot the same rounds as me but not as well as “us”.
We’ve always flown by the seat of our pants and are very flexible.
