Sources have told The News that Rivers would not want to live unless she could enjoy “a full and active life....(She) would never want to be a burden on anyone.”

Rivers’ grandson, Cooper, 13, and her daughter’s ex-husband, John Endicott, were spotted leaving the hospital Saturday morning in a Lincoln SUV and returning to Melissa Rivers’ East Side apartment.

Rivers was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital after she stopped breathing during an otherwise routine doctor’s visit for a throat procedure.

It was unclear how long Rivers was without oxygen. Doctors placed her in a coma within hours as they attempted to assess the damage, and her daughter was expected to discuss treatment options with the medical staff.

I pray that she can recover. Pro Hamas leftists have already wished her dead..I hope she can bounce back and tell those a-holes to go F themselves in typical Joan Rivers fashion..it all depends on what happens when they unplug her from the machine, if she can breathe on her own we are back in business, if she can’t I can see Melissa pulling the plug.

Ditto that. AND that she tell the world anything evil that was spoken in her presence by those wrongly assuming she could not hear a thing.

If it was done in the doctors’ office, they may have not used propofol, they may have done moderate sedation with versed and fentanyl or versed and demerol. They may not have even had a crash cart in the office.

Over on her "In Bed With Joan" show site someone commented yesterday that if she passes he hopes she meets up with some of the palestinians she was dissing.

I commented back to this person with..
No, what with Joan being in heaven.. THEY WOULD NEVER MEET.

Then someone else posted the following remark about my quip.(I'm cleaning it up a bit)

Eat $hit you racist jew pig! I hope you get cancer of the arse.

Aren't they a lovely bunch of folks..lol

I also posted the following message...

You are such a wonderfully funny and smart lady! I saw on the news that you are in the hospital after a cardiac/respiratory arrest at a clinic :-( I pray that you will recover soon.

And please, NEVER again have an operation at a little outpatient clinic. Always go the the BIG WHITE HOSPITAL with lots of JEWISH DOCTORS!!! :-)

Joan has said some controversial things in the past..like she had said some things about the Palin family that obviously I did not like..but after Bristol and family met the Rivers family during Wife Swap, Joan got a soft spot for the Palin family and hasn’t said anything nasty about them again..in fact both Bristol and Sarah have both said on facebook that they are praying for Joan’s recovery. She is a good woman, Pro Israel, says what is on her mind..the only ones that want her dead are the Pro Hamas leftist Commies who hate her for supporting Israel. If anyone can make it through this its Joan Rivers..and I checked out the Yorkville Endoscopy Clinic online that she went to..the doctors there look top notch..this was probably just a fluke accident..unfortunately when your older, you react differently than younger people..heck look up how many young people die during routine dental procedures, anything involving sedation has a risk, that’s why they make you sign that form

I have heard from health care workers that lots of people die after Christmas etc. They hold on so they don’t ruin their loved ones’ holiday.

versed and fentanyl

Whoa, fentanyl...now that's the GOOD stuff there.

Not going to feel any pain but a benzo such as versed will keep you from remembering just how great the fentanyl felt... maybe that's a good thing.

IMO, and especially for the elderly, Ketamine is a better choice than Propofol... even with the minor problem of emergence reaction.

Not suspicious at all. She was old, and old people die all the time. Liberal, conservative, we all die.

I agree, as would Joan, I suspect.

Come on, FRiends. She was 81, for crying out loud, and completely exhausted from a demanding schedule.

Still, I love her and hope she pulls though.

We've had this directive too. Be careful about doctors who believe “pulling the plug” includes withholding food, water and medicine. We had one doctor try to convince us that our elderly relative should have those withheld. We refused (I don't trust the recommendations of elder care doctors) and a few simple antibiotics later, our relative was able to move back to his assisted living apartment.

Didn’t Joan Rivers perform some standup the day before the “procedure”???. Whole thing is weird?

I’ve watched Fashion Police too. After I heard her comments in support of Israel, it made me glad to know more about what she really thinks about something as important as supporting Israel. I have 2 items of clothing she sells on QVC and they are fabulous. Gotta admire her work ethic. She seemed to love all the many endeavors she undertook in her career and loves her family as well. I hope there is a miracle and she recovers from this.

You bring up a good point: we’ve started telling our clients to keep their directives somewhere besides their medical records. Some are concerned it gives the docs permission to DNR you.

Frankly I don’t understand why all health care providers don’t treat it as seriously as the system I’m referring to does.

And you don’t make this document for yourself. You make it for your family. Mom told me this. No mom told me something else. Well it’s mom’s fault for not putting her wishes in writing.

She is in a medically induced coma. They can bring her out of it, but they generally wait a few days to allow time for the brain to heal. Then they bring them out to gauge the damage. That is when any decisions would be made about life support.

We still have a few days to go here.

Joan is being slowly taken off the induced coma and we will see what happens..it takes two days to find out if she has any chance at a normal life so continue to pray..I am hoping that she will wake up and make a joke about all of this, that is how we will know Joan is still Joan

It would be wonderful to hear her make wise-cracks about this someday, and soon I hope. I’ve said prayers for her as have many others. I am glad to read that she is being slowly taken off the coma medications. God is Good, he will hear our prayers!

Father God,

We claim the promises in Job 33 for Joan Rivers and that she will proclaim the name of Jesus as her Lord & Savior.
In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

JOB 14-33
For God does speak—now one way, now another—
though no one perceives it.
15 In a dream, in a vision of the night,
when deep sleep falls on people
as they slumber in their beds,
16 he may speak in their ears
and terrify them with warnings,
17 to turn them from wrongdoing
and keep them from pride,
18 to preserve them from the pit,
their lives from perishing by the sword.[b]

19 “Or someone may be chastened on a bed of pain
with constant distress in their bones,
20 so that their body finds food repulsive
and their soul loathes the choicest meal.
21 Their flesh wastes away to nothing,
and their bones, once hidden, now stick out.
22 They draw near to the pit,
and their life to the messengers of death.[c]
23 Yet if there is an angel at their side,
a messenger, one out of a thousand,
sent to tell them how to be upright,
24 and he is gracious to that person and says to God,
‘Spare them from going down to the pit;
I have found a ransom for them—
25 let their flesh be renewed like a child’s;
let them be restored as in the days of their youth’—
26 then that person can pray to God and find favor with him,
they will see God’s face and shout for joy;
he will restore them to full well-being.
27 And they will go to others and say,
‘I have sinned, I have perverted what is right,
but I did not get what I deserved.
28 God has delivered me from going down to the pit,
and I shall live to enjoy the light of life.’

29 “God does all these things to a person—
twice, even three times—
30 to turn them back from the pit,
that the light of life may shine on them.

Many people who are ventilated recover.

My husband is a case in point. In July of last year, at the age of 62, he had an emergency appendectomy. The doctors expected him to be able to go home in a day or two, but, due to his lack of honesty about his history of smoking and his use of alcohol, the doctors did not have all the information they needed to determine the best type or the appropriate amount of anesthesia to use. They did do a pre-op chest X-ray, but they did not have time to look at it before he went to the OR since his appendix was about to rupture. They were surprised that it was taking him so long to wake up after the surgery and that he was not oxygenating well. They put him on a ventilator to help him breathe and he remained on it for over a week until they were able to wean him off. Without it, he would have died from a "simple" appendectomy. He is perfectly fine now and his blood oxygen levels are better than they were before the surgery.

Agreed that she put her poor body through too many surgeries, but she’s still 81. That’s a pretty reasonable life expectancy for anyone.
