Joan Rivers on life support as daughter Melissa remains ‘in denial’ about mother’s condition...

Sources have told The News that Rivers would not want to live unless she could enjoy “a full and active life....(She) would never want to be a burden on anyone.”

Rivers’ grandson, Cooper, 13, and her daughter’s ex-husband, John Endicott, were spotted leaving the hospital Saturday morning in a Lincoln SUV and returning to Melissa Rivers’ East Side apartment.

Rivers was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital after she stopped breathing during an otherwise routine doctor’s visit for a throat procedure.

It was unclear how long Rivers was without oxygen. Doctors placed her in a coma within hours as they attempted to assess the damage, and her daughter was expected to discuss treatment options with the medical staff.

I think Joan is already gone...the family just hasn’t come to the conclusion she is brain dead from lack of oxygen. Sad...very funny lady.

I’m glad she called out Obama and the Wookie, stood with Israel.

Apparently she didn’t have a directive to physicians in place? This is precisely why we tell all our clients to get their wills, POAs and directives, because when you need it, it’s too late to get it.

Lack of oxygen - seems odd. If she was having a medical procedure done in a medical office why didn’t she get CPR right away?

Throat surgery - maybe her airway got blocked?

I feel for her daughter. She has a tough decision to make.

When my mother was placed on life support, my brother and I were told we had 10 days to decide — either discontinue life support or place Mom in a nursing home. She could not just stay at the hospital.

It isn't an easy decision to make. Mom had a living will essentially stating if there was no hope for recovery, she wanted us to pull the plug. The tough part is determining whether there is hope. Brother and I finally had a heart-to-heart talk with the head physician of the hospital ICU. While other doctors gave us mumbo-jumbo or no explanation at all, this doctor was direct. He explained Mom's condition in a way anyone could understand, and while he didn't advocate one choice or the other, he detailed thoroughly the consequences of each.

I hope Melissa Rivers has the same type of good counsel. She's going to need all the help she can get

I worked in an IT department for a large medical system. The first thing they asked at every encounter was do you have a healthcare directive and where is it stored. If the patient didn’t have one the provider was supposed to talk to them about getting one.

She also bashed Hamas and Mudslimes. How far is the vocal chords from the mouth? Maybe 2-3 inches? So they stick an endoscope in her mouth and look at her vocal chords and suddenly she stops breathing? Did she have a heart attack? How does one suddenly stop breathing from that?

I read they didn’t do any surgery, they were just looking at her vocal chords with an endoscope.

Suspicious this comes so soon after she called Obama gay and Moochelle a tranny

Not suspicious at all. She was old, and old people die all the time. Liberal, conservative, we all die.

My wife’s friend told me a cute story about her mother’s passing.

Her 89 year old mother was failing fast and the only thing keeping her going was dialysis. Talking with the family she said she was ready to go so they took her off dialysis and moved her to hospice.

Mom said of course she wanted pastor Tim to do the funeral. Daughter called the church, they said pastor Tim was on vacation with his family in Ca for the next three weeks. Daughter thought about lying to mom but in the end she told her pastor Tim was gone for the next 3 weeks. But pastor Dave can do it.

Mom says, that’s nice, he has such a nice family. Pastor Dave huh? Ok, I’ll wait.

Now the docs told them she probably had 2 days to a week tops. But the daughter told her Ok mom, we’ll wait. Week goes by, mom’s still here. Two weeks, going strong. end of third week she’s starting to fade. Tim gets back into town and they rush him to the hospital. She’s pretty out of it by now but he sits with her and talks and reads some Bible verses. After he leaves, daughter holds moms hand and asks her if she knows Tim is back. Yes dear, I know she says.

In an hour she goes into a coma. Next morning she passed away. And pastor Tim did the funeral.

Docs in the hospital are all shaking their heads wondering how she held on for three weeks.

Michael Hastings comes to mind.. It’s time for Melissa to take names and investigate thoroughly. Michael Baden at the ready in case the unthinkable happens.

I looked it up a few days ago, they mentioned the office in one article I read. I forget the name of it now, but I found their website, they had 3 or 4 Jewish doctors and one guy who seemed Muslim, something like “Dr. Hashad Amir”.

I would be in denial too..I still can’t believe its actually happening. My Mom won’t even watch Fashion Police anymore, we both saw it on Wednesday and can’t bare to watch the repeats..an absolute shame for a healthy, vibrant woman to go down like this, from a very common procedure to being kept alive only by machines..if anyone can get through this its Joan she is a tough ol broad

Big difference being 40 and being 89 with multiple organ failure.
