Duran Duran Sue Own Fan Club

Duran Duran are suing their own fan club for breach of contract, claiming that it did not pay the band its promised revenue. In 2010, the group signed a contract with Worldwide Fan Clubs, Inc., based in a town about 30 minutes outside of Chicago, that guaranteed the band 75 percent of all profits, according to Chicago Sun-Times, while the company kept the rest.

Although part of the suit alleges that the company failed to keep precise fan-club records, collect membership fees and keep accurate accounting, Simon Le Bon & Co. claim that the company owes them approximately $40,000 in damages. The company was also supposed to serve as a warehouse that would sell band merchandise.

The Associated Press reports that Worldwide Fan Clubs had no comment on the matter.

Currently, Duran Duran – whose membership remains the same as their 1981 debut minus guitarist Andy Taylor – are working on a new album with a little help from former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante. "We are all such big fans of John's work and are honored to have him adding his magic to the record," the group reported in a blog post. "There are no current plans for John to tour with us, but his guitars sound incredible on the tracks." It is unclear how much of the album the guitarist will play on.

You know, now that I think about it they look exactly like Obamas vision for the new US Marines.

Who can forget the early 80s...

Who wants to remember the early 80s (music wise at least)?

Frusciante is an amazing guitarist, can’t wait to hear what he does on their album.

If you like Grizzly Bear, you'll also like War On Drugs, which is another favorite band of mine. Lot of good music still out there but you aren't going to find it on regular radio or MTV (if that even still exists as a music channel).

Compared to today, the ‘80s is nirvana.

“Are you a fan of The Cramps?”

They’re fun. But for some time, I pretty much listened to guitar players, like Danny Gatton, The Hellecasters, etc.. I learned so much by studying and learning Gatton tunes! But I’ve also played with Melodic Metal master Neil Zaza.

Wow that sounds cool, I love it! I’ll definitely check them out some more, thanks! Isn’t amazing how all these bands are in the background while absolute sh*t is pushed to the forefront? I hear people all the time say “There will never be another Beatles or Led Zeppelin” and I tell them, those kind of bands are out there today but you’ll never hear of them because they are not promoted. The music industry has been hijacked by the left so only those bands or singers that promo leftist agendas get priority like Lady GaGa promoting homosexuality or rap groups promoting low IQ African Americans. Every band that is given massive promo today you will find a left wing agenda and THAT is why mainstream music sucks all ass today.

This story is a good example of “scraping the bottom of the barrel”.

Oh gosh, “War on Drugs” I think we heard the lead guy interviewed on U Penn station WXPN.

He was the biggest ego maniac hubby and I have ever heard speak. If the interviewer would say something like: your music is very good, he would say: yes, yes it is. And that’s because I’m great!

Ok, I’m sort of exaggerating and making that up, but that was the general tone.

This part is 100% accurate: at the end when the host said “thanks for coming on today” the guy said “you’re welcome.”

That’s a pretty strong statement. I can think of a lot of bands that were a more popular than Duran Duran in the 80’s and were far more musically influential.

I was a teenager in the 80s. Loved the music of that time. I was never huge into Duran Duran at that time, but I did like a few of their songs. This is one that I was reminded of recently, twice as a matter of fact, by Duran Duran that I really enjoy...once by a FRiend and then it came up in related videos for me the other day on You Tube. Somehow it went mainly unnoticed by me at the time. It has a beautiful, sensual feel to me. I enjoy the main chorus, the lyrics, and the guitar.

Duran Duran - Ordinary World
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDLiVwpv89s

Came in from a rainy Thursday
On the avenue
Thought I heard you talking softly

I turned on the lights, the TV
And the radio
Still I can’t escape the ghost of you

What has happened to it all?
Crazy, some are saying
Where is the life that I recognize?
Gone away

But I won’t cry for yesterday
There’s an ordinary world
Somehow I have to find
And as I try to make my way
To the ordinary world
I will learn to survive

Passion or coincidence
Once prompted you to say
“Pride will tear us both apart”
Well now pride’s gone out the window
Cross the rooftops
Run away
Left me in the vacuum of my heart

What is happening to me?
Crazy, some’d say
Where is my friend when I need you most?
Gone away

But I won’t cry for yesterday
There’s an ordinary world
Somehow I have to find
And as I try to make my way
To the ordinary world
I will learn to survive

Papers in the roadside
Tell of suffering and greed
Here today, forgot tomorrow
Ooh, here besides the news
Of holy war and holy need
Ours is just a little sorrowed talk

And I don’t cry for yesterday
There’s an ordinary world
Somehow I have to find
And as I try to make my way
To the ordinary world
I will learn to survive

Every one
Is my world, I will learn to survive
Any one
Is my world, I will learn to survive
Any one
Is my world
Every one
Is my world
