Here is a selection of his most notable quotes as he offers his own unique advice to people all over the world.
1963
Speaking about the rate of British tax, he said: "All money nowadays seems to be produced with a natural homing instinct for the Treasury."
1965
On seeing an exhibition of "primitive" Ethiopian art, he muttered: "It looks like the kind of thing my daughter would bring back from her school art lessons."

And the point is?
(That he’s incorrigible?)
That's not a gaffe, it's an explanation.
A somewhat sensible, if not tongue in cheek one at that.
The point is that he has the b@lls to say what he thinks (and what most other people think, but are lacking said b@lls).
Gaffes to thee, non-PC plain speaking to me.
(”Thee” being the Telegraph).
Somebody doesn’t understand what a gaffe is. He meant to say those things, exactly as he said them.
Those aren’t gaffe’s. They are evidence of a terrific understated sense of humor, the legendary British dry wit
Hilarious! The Queen must be humiliated every time he opens his mouth.
Prince Phillip served with distinction in WW II in the navy, whose officers have a reputation for plain speaking.
Prince Phillip was always a card, and now that he’s gone dotty, he’s really over the top when he gets away from his minders and speaks in public.
That about sums up the problem on planet Earth.
Good for him, especially on the Ethiopian Art comment.
Most “art” these days makes me feel as he does.
.
Following the Dunblane massacre, he questioned the need for a firearms ban: "If a cricketer, for instance, suddenly decided to go into a school and batter a lot of people to death with a cricket bat, which he could do very easily, I mean, are you going to ban cricket bats?"
Agree with the others - these aren’t gaffes. They’re also fall-down funny. He denies he said the one to the deaf kids, though.
“Most art these days makes me feel as he does.”
“ART” today, can be a booger with a hair in it!
He said his happiest time was in World War II, serving on warships in the Royal Navy. He seems like a guy who would thrive in that environment.
Lots of points, but I think a major one is that expressing all honest opinion is now considered “gaffes”.
Not so. The real problem is that on an imaginary planet Earth people are saying “We go into the red next year. Lets spend even more money we dont have.”
