Columbus scores a third goal one minute into Period 3, but three Pittsburgh tallies in just 2:13 capped by a redirect of a point shot
off the foot of Blue Jackets' D Wisniewski, propels the Pens to a 4-3 victory and the Series lead Two games to One.

Pittsburgh is extraordinarily fortunate to not be down 3-0. That said, I was at the game at Nationwide Arena last night and when the Pens went into desperation mode in the middle of the second, the display of good hockey was something to seriously witness.

The problem is when Columbus plays well their style is the Kryptonite to what Pittsburgh likes to do on the ice.

And the reverse side of that coin is that when Pittsburgh plays well, it’s Kryptonite to what the Jackets like to do. The Pens explode and score in bunches, and then before you know it the game is over. That’s what they did last night, and that’s what they always seem to do to the Jackets. I was also not too happy with Bob during that stretch; I think two of those goals were on him.

My sons sent me very excited texts about the start of the game (and one of them is a Penguins fan). My response was “that’s how game 2 started.”

Then Pens woke up and played with a sense of urgency. We’ll see how the Jackets respond to that.

I was exhausted by the end of the game.

Playoff hockey is intense!

That’s 3 straight games where the team with a 3-1 lead blew it and lost!

Cool !

(I don’t know how to do that kind of thing)

I’ve got my Original 6 tee all ready to see the B’s take it.

One of my sons was at the great game on Sunday. He said it was one of his best Easters ever. :-)

Part of that was Columbus ran out of gas due to the parade of penalties and power plays. The only really horrific call was the one on Foligno, but the rest were legit.

When Columbus can roll at least 3 full lines, they’ve basically stopped Pittsburgh cold. When they can’t or when they have a ton of PK time which ruins the rotation they’ve set, it shows up on the scoreboard.

An interesting NHL stat just was announced by Doc Emrick on TV - the Bs have not won a game on Wing’s ice since March 11, 2007.

Uhhh ohhh.

Ignore all stats——and pray,or cross your fingers,or sit in your lucky chair.

Whatever works.
